and he kept saying how you should pay more attention to your god given strengths to succeed and it was weird because from what I believe, and what Hindus and Buddhists believe, we need to acknowledge our weaknesses and improve but this guy kept insisting on forgetting about the weaknesses
what do you believe?

I think acknowledging weaknesses makes you a better person, instead of just acknowledging the good, you need to see all sides to everything

"Firstly , know yourself, from this all things are possible".Sadly Christianity contains the ingrained selfishness of personal reward in exchange for loyalty to supernatural beings. Something for nothing, just read the book, swallow the line, talk superior, get the goodies! The Western religions emphasise good `Christians`, rather than good humans, suggesting goodness and Christianity are inseparable. `Bad`, is of course anything other than the `official` line, causing, as we see everywhere today, strife and hatred, stressing the differences, afraid of the `others`.

All messages that we hear are right for each one of us. But understanding what our weakness are is good, the christian as am I believe that if you look more to the strenghth that you have you will be more balanced in all that you do. People that spend all there time with the weakness that they have tend to be depressed and don't go forward with life.
We know our weakness and can emprove on them without living them. Hope that make sense to you?
There is a book out there called Living Your Strengths: Discover Your God-Given Talents, and Inspire Your Congregation and Community.........you can view it at the link below.........

There are a whole shed-load of preachers out there who use TV as a medium to ensnare vulnerable folks. Some preach the "prosperity gospel" and believe God will make you rich and successful if you go with them. Bunkum. The Bible says we should acknowledge our weaknesses and look to God for strength. It's the meek who will eventually inherit the earth, not the proud. I would give this preacher a wide bearth.

He was probably preaching about our God given strength to send him some money.
Christians believe that we should use our talents and improve on our weaknesses. A sort of spiritual SWOT analysis.

Paul, who was given a thorn in the flesh and besought the Lord three times for it's removal, wrote :
And he (God) said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake, for when I am weak, then I am strong.
This is not, of course, to be taken as an excuse or to indulge ourselves in our shortcomings.
We must learn that our strength and help and success comes from the Lord through whatever means He chooses.

I believe we need to acknowledge our weaknesses, but we cannot make ourselves perfect in every area. We need to realise what our weaknesses are and concentrate on our strengths.

Did he ask for money at the end? I am a Christian and I believe we should be aware of both our own strengths and weaknesses.

Buddhism strikes a balance between acknowledging your weaknesses and being aware of your "Buddha nature"- your spiritual potential to develop as a result of your own strivings.

Sounds like he was of the Word of Faith or Health and Wealth God wants you to be rich garbage purported by most TV preachers like TBN. Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, etc
That is not what Jesus taught at all. Its Christian heresy.
