Dear answerers,
I like this guy at school but last year I wrote this really revealing love note to his best friend and now they think I'm all weird because I didn't know the guy I like right now had a girlfriend who was my best friend and now it's a really awkward moment and nobody tells anybody if they are going out with somebody so how do I know if I should ask him out? Should I just concentrate on my school work right now and forget my social life like my mother says or should I go out with somebody and take the chances of getting my heart broken if it means that this could be a very romantic long-lasting relationship that could mean long-life love? I would like answers from guys and girls because I don't know if it would be weird to ask somebody out if you had the history like that.
P.S. The guy I like is always around me, he talks to me, he is so smart, he is my size, he plays all kinds of sports, and he has a good taste in clothes. Doesn't that sound like perfect?

Don't worry about it. The teen age years are full of social blunders and the guys involved have probably made a few of their own.
But right now your NUMBER ONE JOB is to finish high school with good grades and focus on what you will do with your life after high school. The male of the species improves greatly with age, and that means many guys aren't fully human until they are in their twenties! And if you are college bound, colleges and universities are better "meet markets" than high school!
Don't get so wound up in your social life that your grades suffer. I agree with your mother in that regard.

school is meant to teach you things.. now u know better than to write love notes to people.. if you really like this guy ask him out for pizza or to go to a movie or something.. dont' make it a date until ur really ready... relax and take a minute to get to know him on a friend level before you ask him to be your boyfriend just remember don't set your hopes high because school is just that a learning experiance

Time is a great healer and perhaps everyone is not thinking about the revealing love note like you are. As for that guy you like invite him to have lunch with you, and yes that does sound pretty good.
So, invite him to lunch and see how it goes.

If you like this guy take the risk on asking him out. and conscentrate on your homework too. all work and no play is not good, you need to get out and enjoy yourself, and since this guy is always around you. you have a better chance, so talk to him and see if he would like to do something one night and see where it goes from there.

I think it's strange that your group doesn't say who they are going out with and then get upset when you tell someone you like them. I say go for it. You need a social life. But you should ask if he has a GF first.

HEy don't worry about it i have the same problem, i like a boy and i wrote a love note to him, and like everyone read it, it didn't hurt anything, actully they think i should go out with him , he talks to me and hangs out by me like u said the boy who you like does, i would't worry about anything, you never know if he adores you or not, maybe he'll go out with you, just be yourself!!

Sweetie--you can do your schoolwork and date. Just prioritize your time. Talk to this guy and let him know you feel--if you don't he may never know.
He sounds very nice and very responsible. Good Luck.

I would do what your mom says. But if you become better friends with him, maybe it could turn into a relationship!
