Find all the local King Fu areas that are in your reach, go to them. See what they are about and make sure that they are what you want. Do not fall for any hype about promised for sashes or rank. Ask to watch a class and participate for a week in classes to make sure it is for you. Try this with several of them, after that you should find the right school for you. You may even find out it is not Kung Fu but another syle. Kung fu is awesome, but all styles are awesome if taught properly. Look for a good teacher most of all.

Find a school that's local to you (up to a 15 minute drive away) and take some trial classes to see if you like it.
If you do then enroll in the the class.
if it's a specific discipline of Kung Fu that you're looking for, then you'll have to see if there's a school that teaches it near you.
because it depends on what discipline interests you the most (like Wushu, Wing Chun, Hsing-I, or one of the 5 animal disciplines)
the best way to learn ANY Martial Arts discipline is to study in a school and NOT by books or videos because those are only good for reference material to people who're already studying the discipline.
good luck finding a school, and good training

Well... Depends on what style you want to follow, there's a wide variety of kungfu (wushu). eg. Taji Quan, Nan quan, shaolin, etc. If you want to learn wushu, you should actually start at an early age. There are many jumps, flips and transition in stances where you need great flexibility and muscle in the thighs. Well, you can still try it out if you are able to find a good school. Best way is to go to china, haha, learn from the wushu one family or other schools.

First of all try to get some feed back from some people who train in this art.Visit different schools and see if you would be comfortable training there. You must realize that all sports are hard at first and that with determination and lots of work you will become better and better.Don't be fooled by wana be's you should be able at least to recognize the real thing.and of course get in shape and eat right.

Find some one to teach you. You can learn a small amount from books and instructional videos, but it would not compare to getting real training from a sifu .
