If you find out you have HIV you can get treated and make sure you don't spread it.

If you find out you don't have HIV you can stop worrying about it.

1) So they can obtain proper treatment if they are HIV positive

2) So they can take all the proper precautions to not spread it.


It is a disease after all. Would you ask about the beneifts of knowing whether one has strep or not when they have a sore throat? Of course not.

So what is your REAL question?

Because that way you won't unknowingly pass HIV to an unsuspecting partner.

The benifit is that you are better able to make responsible decisions regarding your sex life. Also knowing your status early will prolong your life and your partner's life.
