I am wondering what cheesy holiday things i can do with my girlfriend while i am in visiting NYC. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than the Rockefeller Tree or Ice skating..looking for something besides this. Thanks!

- Walk up and down Madison and also Fifth and examine the stores' window holiday decorations.
- Get some chestnuts on the street (that were previously roasting over open fire).
- See the Radio City Christmas spectacular

There's TONS of things to do ... cheesy or otherwise, during the holidays in NYC. For openers you can just look at the amazing windows at the MAJOR department stores. Barney's on Madison Ave is the most famous for having the most clever windows.

You can have a great view of the city from a free trip on the Staten Island ferry ...and get a close up view of the Statue of Liberty (without actually going there).
Walking across the Bklyn Bridge is very popular with tourists, but make sure it's not on a windy day! 8:-)

We used to have something called First night ... for some reason I don't see it listed this year.

Check out this site for city sponsored things to see:

Check out the TKTS line at the seaport (rather than hang on the long lines in midtown) to get discounted tiks to a B'way show.
Gotta see a show while U R in NYC ... the theater CAPITAL of the world!

Welcome to NYC .. and have a blast while you're here!

I just thought of something else! You gotta EAT!
Go to this site and join for free:

Restaurant.com
(put in the zip code where you'll be staying in NY ... and go from there ... once you get to the NYC selections you can pick less miles away, and types of restaurants you'd like to go to)

Just got back from NYC myself. Best ideas I can throw your way are to stroll down 5th avenue and check out all the store displays (you'll be there anyway when you go by Rockefeller). You could also head down to Herald Square and check out the front of Macy's.

Go to Grand Central and watch the light show on the ceiling in the main hall.
Take a walk in Central Park... very romantic. You can't get lost and its really pretty.
Go to dinner... just choose a nice restraunt while you are walking.
Go to top of Empire State Building at night.
Go to SOuth Street Seaport.
Walk across the brooklyn bridge.
Shop in Soho.. she will love it.
Go to the MET they have holiday activities going on.

Holiday??? Trying to figure out what that is. Sounds vaguely familiar. L'il dip in the ocean ... just a few steps and it's there. Think I might have the best of both worlds?

Go to the MTV studio, or try to get on TV one morning while they are taping the Today Show. Of course you should make your signs saying "Hi" to all the folks back home! It's definitely cheesy!
