You want to teach your puppy that putting her teeth on human skin is not OK. But you can do this w/o punishment, in a clear way that the pup will understand. You and all members of your family need to be consistent and figure out what your plan will be. Hopefully you're using a crate to help with potty training; use the crate as a time-out place for the pup when he makes a mistake (biting you is the most important thing to stop at this time) You don't need to be emotional at all or scold the pup when you do a time out - just pop him in the crate and try again in a few minutes. I've linked below to some sites that will help you.

Never Ever Ever hit a dog for anything, especially biting!!! This will make things worse and make him scared of you and very likely turn him into a fear biter which is more dangerous than any other type of dog!!!
You need to tell him NO or OFF or OUCH when he bites, and immediately stop playing and turn your back to him. You need to be firm and consistent with him and I would strongly recommend obedience classes for you and your buddy. The classes will teach you how to effectively teach him what you want him to do and are an amazing bonding experience.

Saint Bernard? I have a Saint Bernard!!! They are SO Sweet! IS he hurting them? Your Children I mean? IF he is... I suggest punishing him when he bites.... We always Smacked Oscar (My Saint Bernard) on the nose... He hated it... I don't think it really hurt him much... but it taught him not to be naughty!

When he bites during play time, stop right away. Then ignore him. It is the most harsh punishment for a dog... Soon he will learn that biting is unacceptable.

I own three Saints, they like to mouth when playing. Mine have been taught not to use their teeth. You need to say NO and stop play when ever they do this. Saints also, like to paw when playing not realizing its like getting hit by a log. This is all training on your part that will stop this behavior.

Puppies will generally grow out of play biting. We were taught to "yelp" when our puppy bit us like that. It imitates what he/she gets from litter-mates. They learn how rough they can play through signals from their brothers and sisters -- a yelp signifies they bit too hard and next time they'll try to play a little less rough.

if i were you when he plays and then he bites you have to tell him "NO!" but you have to be sturn and maybe he wil listen. If that doesnt work i would bring him to a puppy school adn they could tell you what to do. If you already did that, just try to be sturn.
Good Luck Hopefully I helped.

Keep him away from kids? Get a muzzle (but those are sort of mean...)... or, if he is a puppy, he will grow out of it.
