Whenever I go to the dentist, I have cavities. I went once and had 8 of them. I regularly brush my teeth twice a day. My dentist said it could be a condition called soft teeth, because I'm also lactose intolerant and didn't get much calicium when I was a kid, that contributes to having weak teeth. Is there anything I can do to maybe help fortify my teeth?

Yes, soft teeth are more susceptible to tooth decay/cavities which is caused by the breakdown of the sugars you eat in the mouth. Bacteria that normal live in the mouth that help fight infection, also like to feed on these sugars. They then produce an acid by-product(a nice way to say "bacteria "poop"...plague) which then lays on the teeth. If the teeth are weak and porous, (lacking calcium from when they were forming in childhood) it is much easier for this acid to get into these porous areas and eat a hole quicker in your tooth then the average persons thus causing a cavity. To fortify and strengthen your teeth, rinse with a Prescription strength Fluoride rinse or Gel especially at night before bed. It is the only mineral that can actually recombine with the tooth and take the place of the lost or lacking calcium. When it does recombine with the tooth, the bond is 3 times stronger than the calcium that was or should have been there in the first place. You can actually remineralize early decay as long as it is still in the enamel and not broken through tho the inside of the tooth. After the teeth are formed and erupted, there is nothing you can swallow to make them stronger.

sucks, eh? i hate to go to the dentist, afraid of how many it will be next time. i have not done this... but heard of it.. that the dentist can actually 'seal' your teeth. put like a protective covering over them. i would ask about that. other than that, floss, continue to brush and use mouthwash, take vitamens and stay away from sweets. invest in dental insurance
