Hi guys
My babyTinkerbell is 4.5 months old, Ive had her since 6 weeks and she has been playing with another kitten of the same age until last week, as the owners have now moved out.
I have loadsa toys for her, but she's bored now, I built a cardboard house for her and she has a huge 6 bedroomed house to run around when Im at work, 5 days a week..........
Thing is now her friend has gone, Im worried she will be really lonely and sad, my flatmates are students and I cant get another kitten as it will jeapodise my future accomodation prospects.
Any advice ..............?
Thanks in advance.....

Hi guys
Thanks for you help, Dav, were you joking? Put her on a leash? She has a garden that she plays in when Im watching. I wish I could get another kitten, one flatmate is allergic to cats though!!!1 but I will be student too soon and uni. accom. wont allow 2 cats, but I could probably sneak in 2. Will contact RSPCA about short term fostering maybe......thanks again guys.....will try newspaper thing too! Thanks

You say she had a little friend who went away. She may be pining. It might be better to get another young kitten as company for her. She will bond more quickly with her new pal. Older cats are protective, and dont like strange animals invading their territory. Now is the right time to introduce a little companion.

She is reaching an age where she can handle it better and it is good that she has had another kitten to play with for a while.
When you use the word "flatmates" I guess you are in the UK. In the US many shelters and adoption societies do keep lists of rental units that are "pet friendly" so you can use those lists when looking for a new rental.
Maybe another of your flatmates would like one kitten and take responsibility for its care for its lifetime when living arrangements have to change. That way you could have two kittens.

I think you're better off having a second kitten for yours to play with, especially if you are gone most of the day, and where she is already used to having a play mate. The earlier you introduce another kitten, the better the chances they will become lifelong best friends, so I wouldn't wait too long. Also, you probably will find a second kitten will keep yours out of trouble, because instead of destroying things, attacking your legs, etc out of boredom, she can use the excess energy on her playmate.

I have a kitten too named Frodo she is 8 months old the thing that really makes her happy is things on sticks, find a stick and take a sock and fill it with his/her favorite dry cat food and tie the sock to the stick and glue things like feathers or if no feathers leaves anything that can dangle, and while you are lyin` on the couch watchin T.V or somthin` hang the stick over the side of the couch and wiggle it this will keep you kitten happy and sain ^^

most cats are independant.
she will get over not having the other cat around.
i find a sheet of newspaper rolled up tight into a ball is the best toy for a cat.
if she has a 6 bedroomed house to explore she will be fine.
also cats can sleep up to 16 hours a day.

Your kitten will be fine; although it appears that she had a lot of fun with her little buddy, cats (as well as kittens) actually prefer to be alone most of the time. They are very independent and will not mind at all when a friend leaves, unless it is, of course, an owner that they have had a long attachment to.

If I'm at home alone at night, I usually order in sushi or pizza and walk around the house in my underwear. There are four stories in my house, with a ton of banisters that I love sliding down. I basically act really weird and then watch a movie.

My cat is alone pretty often too. Can you get some kind of animal other than a second cat in your uni? I have a hamster, and he keeps my kitty entertained for HOURS by just running around his cage. Just be sure the cage is secure, or your kitty will eat it.

I think buying another kitten wouldn't hurt considering it got along with your neighbours cat so just take a kitten for the SPCA for a day and then see how it goes or adopt one the older ones so they don't have to be put down!

She will adapt...just spend time with her..play and fuss her when you can...you probably feel a little guilty (just being human) so are maybe reading more into it than you need to. Animals can pine but I'm sure given time she will be just fine.
