Why not curl it all & only pull up or pin up part of it at the crown.

so you dont want it just down, and you dont want an up do
you dont want curls or twisties or braids.
so the only thing left is straightening it
but i would sugest that maybe before you see him you get your hair done in a different style, you know, for like suprise. i would go get a side bang and keep that straight. the back i would do loose curls. good luck!!

One of my favorites is the "inside-out pony". Make a loose pony-tail with an elastic hair tie. The elastic hair tie needs to be tight enough to hold your hair for the evening, but you need a couple inches of space to work with between your head and the elastic hair tie. Using your fingers, gently split the hair above the elastic hair tie into two sections. Grab the loose end of your pony-tail and feed it through the "break" above the elastic hair tie. You can go up and over, or under and through -- I prefered the up and over look but you can experiement. When you get the loose end of your pony-tail worked the "break", gently snug up your pony-tail like you would normally. You can clip on a barette or a bow, or you can tuck a couple of small flowers in the top of your "inside-out pony". Happy Anniversary!

you could put it half up, or just straighten it, then curl the bottom under, then pull it up with a clip. easy and classy - especially if you have thick hair
