Sit down with a note pad and pen. Write down all the things bothering me, don't read it, burn it. Works wonders.

Gee, you just summed up PMS, but it looks like you're a guy so that shouldn't be it. Everybody goes through these slumps and we all feel like dog poo sometimes. Every so often, I do hide. I find listening to music is the only thing that really changes my mood. I also eat but that is so not healthy. That's why I'm a big girl. I'm going to go for a walk today to feel better (hey, your post helped me!). If this funk seems to be persistent, take a deep look at your life and try to determine what you're scared of/angry about. It may mean you have to change jobs, dump your girlfriend, something drastic...but if you're really down it may be your life's circumstances. Of course, it could be that everything is actually okay and you're clinically depressed, in which case you should see a therapist.
Here's to sunny days again...

I talk to my friend or just chat on line with my buddies and vent vent vent...it help to let off some steam at times and get encouragement and good advice to make you feel a bit better. Also, I love to blast my stereo listening to my favorite music and write poetry and do some art...you know something possitive...on my real bad days I just stay in my room and veg out all day.

I was going to say something flip like 'kick the dog', but that's not especially helpful, is it.
I get like that every so often, too. Sometimes I really do just go to bed and sleep for a while. Sometimes I yell at my kids (not very helpful or satisfying - I don't recommend it. Besides, my kids wouldn't like it if you yelled at them. They don't know you!).
The most effective way to shake off the blues is talk, talk, talk to someone who can empathize. And walk, walk, walk - it clears my head and seems to sweat out the bad.
Pretty sappy I know, but it does seem to help.

Sometimes I take a nap, other times I just talk to one of my friends. Pop in my favorite movie. Listen to sad songs and cry with them until I feel better. Write about it in my blog for an outlet. Play a video game. And watching Metalocalypse really helps for me.

You call your local community mental health clinic and ask to arrange to talk to a counselor about depression. If you are feeling suicidal then either call your local crisis line or go to the emergency room of your local hospital and tell them about your intentions.

I try the classics, run away, lash out at friends, and the old favourite; drink neat spirits alone, in the dark.

Start shoveling. lol
Actually, when I do get this way, I become very active and usually do some serious house cleaning. It helps me to overcome and release negative energy.
