I'm a believer and no, I wouldn't take an Atheist as my partner.
I don't want any spiritual confusion in my household or any arguments. The less of those the better.
And I don't want my kids to be confused. I want them to be Christian, not Agnostic or Atheist or whatever.

A marriage partner?

As a believer, certainly NOT. I cannot and will not take a marriage partner of another religious persuasion or no religious persuasion at all.

1. It is against Biblical principles.
2. Sociology tells us that two people who have most things in common to begin with, will make a more successful and lasting marriage. Why should I go into a marriage already handicapped!!!
3. And what do we do with the children? Let her train the girls the way she wants and I will take care of the boys' religious education?

As a believer, I would have to think twice about going into business with a non-believer as a partner, especially so if he contributes more than 50 %. Not that fellow 'christians' are much better (oftentimes)

I could not take a believer as my partner. It would be too difficult to live with someone who was basing their choices in life on some higher power instead of what they thought was the right thing to do.

II am a believer and I would not marry an atheist under any circumstance. First of all, an atheist does not live by God's law, so the chances of that person being unfaithful to me are more likely than not. God made all of us, even the atheist, and He knows more about us than anyone else, so His Word, the bible, is what I live by and it would not be fair to an atheist and it would not be right for our relationship. That would be a very miserable relationship for me and it just would not work out. Besides, God commands us not to marry outside of the faith because we would probably end up doing things that would not please Him......KECK

As a Christian I could not marry an atheist. That would go against everything I believe. I live my life for God.

Merry Christmas.

Sure, if we were good together why not? I most likely wouldn't marry a fundamentalist though, they are crazy. And if we had kids i would insist that they be exposed to as many religious services as possible (christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.) but not indoctrinated... just so they can experience all that is out there and make an informed decision.

I married a believer. Mutual respect is a wonderful thing.

Pity we don't seem to have a lot of that in the religion and spirituality section. :)

I am an atheist and my wife is catholic and we have been together for 10yrs and we get along great. I love her regardless of her beliefs and she feels the same. I respect her and she respects me. We don't need some book written by sheep hearders to tell us how to live.

My husband is a lapsed Catholic. When we got married, we were married by a judge. I do believe in God, I just don't like him. If my husband was a true believer, yes I would have still married him. We respect each others opinions.

I'm an atheist, married to a Muslim. We seem to be doing fine. I don't enforce my opinions on him, same thing the other way around. And we don't allow each other families to butt into our business either.
