Of course it's ok. Indian women wear western styles, so you can wear a saree. I'm of Indian heritage and I'm not offended when a white woman wear's a saree. I just want to correct the way she drapes it for her :)

i imagine you've a valid question and also you're nice to care that you do not insult absolutely everyone. My sister replaced into somewhat asking me a similar element a fe days in the past. different saris are very quite.

I know English women "not of Indian heritage" who do. It can either be very flattering or conceal a size problem. Cannot see why American women should have a problem.
