Sure, we shouldn't argue about non-essentials like eschatology (end times prophecy) or whether or not all of the spiritual gifts are still available or whether or not a person can lose their salvation. But we have to agree on the essentials, that Jesus the Son of God became flesh and was born of a virgin, lived a sin free life, died on a cross to pay for our sins and was buried and raised again on the third day.
2 Timothy 4
1In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Read 1 Peter 3:15,16. We Christians don't argue for a lie, but the truth. If a person says to you, "All church goers are hypocrites, how would you "argue" that? Would you walk away, or would you beg to differ? We are not to argue between Christian (unless, of course, you are well versed in polemics, especially against TBN). So how do you get to the truth? You show them their error, then let the Holy Spirit do the convicting!

No. It does not. As a matter of fact, Jude vs. 3 is pretty clear that we SHOULD contend for the faith:
"3: Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly CONTEND for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."
