Does it keep them from going to the pool or the beach and what harm do they feel this does?

If they are.,...
Why are Christians threatened by the human body?
And is the rest of the world expected to change for a handful?

And, Don't they feel lucky that they don't live in South America or some European countries where it's normal to walk around in a thong and walk in a bank wearing a bikini?

I am what you would call someone who believes in the literal Bible. I am also a student of history, and have studied the rise and fall of many cultures.

Bikini's have become a cultural norm. I think nothing of them. However, there are other bikini's that are extremely obscene. That are nothing more than two strings, covering the genitals and the nipples. That, I *do* mind. Regardless, my wife wears a normal bikini. No biggie. It's not an obscene one. But at the same time, sometimes she won't wear them, because the Bible teaches that we should be careful of other peoples weak conscience.

If we were down South, in the Bible belt where my family is originally from, she wouldn't wear it. We try to show love to our fellow man, and we care what we think, and put their conscience, above our own likes and dislikes. There, she'd wear a one piece.

At the same time, this culture that we live, as a whole, never puts other peoples interests before their own. Other peoples feelings. We are just about mirroring ancient Rome, during the time of Nero, as Tacitus wrote of in his "Annals of Imperial Rome". The consequences will be about the same.

no I am not offended. I am a man and have a nature that desires the flesh. The more of these attractive women I see, the more tempted I am, and that is the problem.

I wish we could live in a world where everyone is aware of their ability to temp people into thinking and acting in a way that is sinful and will do much harm. I don't honestly think these women are intending to do harm. Its not their fault that people have a desire for the flesh and they provoke it when they wear so little clothing. I just wish that they would give some thought to the effect they have on others and consider if its truly worth it?

European women go topless without problem. In other cultures this is normal and no one is offended. Americans are more prude especially the older generation. But why should this be a Christian phenomena. Muslims have a strange relationship to their body and even go into the water with clothes on. Modesty is in ones mind not because you cover up.

some fundamentalists or even nonfundamentalists may be offended by the bikini, or even the speedo. im a christian, but i dont get offended by it... although if she/he were showing way too much i may feel uncomfortable for them... espiacally if they were young and exposing themselves to things they might not be aware of. although at the same time i think of africa where women dont need to wear tops and breasts are normal. it would be nice to live in that kind of society where people are more accepting of the human body. the sad thing is that we are not in that society and we have a lot of perverts and child molesters who will abuse young men or women... and because they are young they dont know how to protect themselves from these predators.

I think you have the subject and direct object reversed. They may be offended but it's *probably* because they take offense, not because the girl intended it. Who cares if they don't go to the beach? I would only find it offensive if she...well, let's get down to brass tacks here...if she's got a BMI over say, 30...and there may be some smaller BMI's that are offensive. It's all relative.

Also, I'm a firm believer in "if you've got it, flaunt it" - especially if it's all firm.

Its funny how some people like to speak out against there own sins. Like the way Ted Haggard was one of the leading supporters for a ban on gay marriage . . . he’s gay (and a meth head).

All these guys who say they don’t like it are the same guys who stare at these scantily clad women from balconies where they can’t be seen.

The women who say it's imoral are a little jealous.

Personally, I prefer a one piece, but I think I’m hot. lol ;)

God said his creation was good. So why would Christians be offended by it. The offensive part could be how the people in the bikini are acting or how the surrounding people respond to it.

There is absolutely nothing " wrong " about the human body .

If you read about Adam and Eve they were running around completely naked and unashamed, not even, aware that they had no clothes...UNTIL they sinned and their EYES were opened and immediately they hid themselves because of their nakedness.
They had put fig leaves on to cover theirselves (FIG LEAVES ARE LARGE) but God was not satisfied , He made them coats out of animal skins.

It is a sin to not dress modestly.

This is God's commandment not MAN's.

No it is not right to prance around on the beach in practically nothing.
Of course this will cause unpure thoughts in others and be a stumbling block to those trying to obey God.
AND no , I do not go to the beach ( AND NO I AM NOT OUT OF SHAPE EITHER) Mainly because even if I am covered modestly there are a lot that aren't .

I have my own back yard and can get a cheap pool in the privacy of my own yard if I want to sunbathe and swim.

1 Timothy 2:9---In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
vs.10--- But ( which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

When I go to the beach, it is for different reasons, I feel sometimes that we confuse which room we are in and who we are in that room with. I do not look with the same eye's as others do I am another face in the crowd.and I know who my search is for. I bow my head, this is true or look the other way. I am there for different reasons and look beyond .
