I have treated myself for pinworms (aka threadworms) with combantrin. I was just wondering how long after taking the medication are the paralysed worms excreted?

According to webmd.com: "Pinworm infections are easily treated with medication. The infection may go away on its own, although this may take up to 14 weeks (two pinworm life cycles). However, medication can help prevent reinfection and the spread of pinworms to other people. Because medications do not kill pinworm eggs, two doses are given, usually 2 weeks apart. The second dose is necessary to kill any worms that may have hatched from eggs after the initial treatment. In some cases of reinfection, 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 2 weeks apart) are necessary."

From personal experience, you can help the prescription medication work better by taking 5,000mg - 6,000mg of Vitamin C per day. After 2 or 3 rounds of prescription medication, I was still having problems. Instead of another round of the prescription medicaion, I started taking large doses of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is water-soluable and any excess is excreted from your system without being toxic to you. The benefit is, the extra that is excreted from your system is toxic to them. That much Vitamin C can be hard on your stomach so if you have stomach problems, you need to talk with your doctor first. Otherwise, take two 1,000mg tablets with each meal throughout the day. I continued to take the Vitamin C tablets until I had used up the large bottle I'd bought for this purpose, and I didn't have a problem again. Good luck!
