Do people really get "Shanked" all the time as much as the Movies show? Or is it just blown out of paportion. And why is it so bad to drop the soap?

Hi,
I spent 20 months in prison in Okla-coma. Where prisons are our industry. It depends if you are in a max or min., facility. In a max prison, there are people on death row and they keep them segregated from general population. If they are in there for life, what difference is it to them to kill inside? They are the biggest threat to other prisoners. I spent my time in a minimum prison and one at community level (no gates or wire). Not much of that went on - never saw anyone using a shank. I heard the mens prisons are a lot worse than the womens. It was bad enough, that I have changed my ways and looking towards a bright future. Prison is what the name means. And if you think it's a cake walk-----well.... go break the law and find out for yourself. It isn't a place where you would want to stay over a day. As far as dropping the soap? It's a joke. I saw women that have never been involved with the same sex, but gay for the stay---- is the way so many women go and I think it is because, they are so needy and need someone on an intimate/emotional level. They choose this because they can not bare to be alone in Prison or without a person to love. That was an everyday thing. It's not a good memory for me and it's been hard getting out, 20 months were enough for me for a life time. I walked out as a free women. Paid all fines and court cost and no paper time. When they called my name and number I ran for the central gate as fast as I could and never looked back, not once.

Dropping the soap is just bad joke when referring to prison. It is many times more certain that you would get stabbed then raped. Politics in prisons are what run the prisons. If you abide by the rules and are part of a "political party" then you MIGHT be safe. If you re not then your a sitting duck. You have to remember that race plays a huge role in the joint. No race wants to have a member/Representative show weakness or disobedience to the rules. This would make you a perfect candidate to get stuck. I have seen a spear made out of magazines and newspaper and trust me it caused major trauma. About the rape issue many races have different opinions the Mexican"Southerners" see it as a sign of weakness and is forbidden among the members. If you choose do do it then expect a green light to get stuck. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but a rule does exist among them about that.Blacks just are not that organized and run a free for all when it comes to that. Whites are a bit more discreet and keep it within themselves and behind closed doors. Remember that taking another mans manhood is not something one does to gain status. Hope this helps =)

Yes it does happen, but not everyday like in the movies, In the 4 years I was working in the system, we had a few people murdered that way, and maybe a few a month stabbed or cut.
But remember you are taking a 1000 plus of the worst people in society and putting them together in close living quarters.
As far as the rapes ( which is what droping the soap refers to) it is not as often as in the movies, most of it happens if you don't pay your debts since there are plenty of inmates willing to have sex.

Yes, people do get stabbed in prison. There are various methods of getting weapons into the prisons. One way is to make a homemade weapon. The other way to get a weapon into the prison yard is to "keyster" it, meaning someone puts it into their rectum to circumvent a strip search.
If you want to see a real good prison fight, go to YouTube.Com and conduct a search for "prison riot". There is a real well documented from Pelican Bay in there somewhere, in which members of a Mexican prison gang specifically target members of an African-American gang. You will see that even though the prison guards use chemical agents to try and stop the prisoners, many of them are still able to stab each other. Very eye-opening indeed.

lol, I can't answer about the "shanking" business but it's bad to drop the soap cuz bubba aint had a woman in a LOOONG time so bending over to pick up that soap is likely to catch his attention.

not really, unless theres a riot going on.
no, prison is 10x worse than TV or movies.
and if u drop the soap, your butthole is now a wider target.

Not only stabbed, but raped, and only God know what other depraved things happens to them when the guards aren't around.
