I have been told that it could be the float, or the sending unit. Is this something I can fix myself? How do I fix it?

The float could be stuck at the top of its travel, or the sending unit's connection to ground could be bad. I believe that either repair would require you to drain the gas tank and drop it down from its mountings to get at the sending unit. It's usually on the top of the tank. Unless you are knowledgeable in automotive repair, this is not something you want to tackle yourself.

hi, it is a few thing which may have got here about in the journey that your vehicle went right into a pit after filling the gas to fill and on the grounds that the vehicle is previous, it ought to have a million. were given stuck some the position and also you may carry it decrease back to time-honored attempting to bypass interior the pit once back:) - not recomended. 2. Ask your mechanic to look into this you bypass for oil replace next time except you opt for to bypass as we talk in case u runnin out of gas and u wont come to understand. 3. in some previous vehicles, the mechanism replaced into somewhat guide, the way you've the water element signals interior the former water storage tanks and if the tank if finished, it gained't come down no matter if u change off the vehicle... (you could examine the gauage back after using one hundred miles or so and u must be confident about the $3 if so)
