Fill the pot 3/4 full with water. Drop in two denture cleaning tablets, any brand will do (I usually buy them at a dollar store). Let the pot sit overnight and wash. The pot should clean up nicely, and the black deposits are easy to remove. Another trick is to make a paste using lemon juice and baking soda, but I prefer the denture tablets. Yes put the pan on the stove full of water, bring to a boil and add cream of tartat abput 1T will do it.

I would use "Dip IT" Its a stailess steel cleaner. But my concern is the pot turning color, are you sure its a 100% stainless steel pot.
