Does it matter, they are both just missile platforms. It all depends on who gets the first lock.

Our missiles have evolved from the vietnam days of .3 success rate of missiles. The weapons of today can take targets out many miles away. I understand dogfighting is still a needed skill, but I think in a aerial war, it would just be attrition because lesser planes would be the targets, not a competition of the best. I say America still has the better plane though considering we are ahead in terms of computers

its an F/A 22 Raptor btw. it eared a high rating in both air and ground combat, like the navy's F/A 18 hornet so i will go with the home team on this one and say Raptor for the win. even though the Mig may have a few tricks up its sleave, but the Raptor is better supported on the ground and in the air making it a far more effective in combat. our pilots are better trained (excepting the israeli defence force), not to toot my own horn but our maintinace crews are the best in the world hands down (funding falls in with this we are by far the best funded), an we have the E-3 AWACS. i worked the E-3 for years and there is none better. and better dead than red i say.

Ha Mig 31 is 20 years older, and uses far less advanced technology, lacks thrust vectoring, radar deflecting surface panel shape, internal weapons mounts, more advanced electronics, etc...

The MIG may be faster but the F-22 is more stealthy, manuverable, and technologically superior.
