lol, I have a labrador retriever, and as you may know they are VERY hyper! I want to know some games you play with your dog to release all of their energy. My retriever doesn't retrieve, gets bored of hide and seek, and gives up on finding treats. So are there any other games out there?

The ONLY game my dog is actually into is "Flashlight Tag". I shine the flashlight around the room and he goes CRAZY!

My dog is still hyper after his daily walks! He walks twice a day, 1 hr 15 minutes total each day. He's still full of energy!

Set up a make-shift agility course. Have him jump over hurdles, walk through tunnels, weave through weave poles etc. You can create all kinds of obstacles around your home with items you probably have anyway: broom sticks, shovels, chairs, trash cans tires, etc. Teach your dog to go thru ... around ... under... over... etc.
Be creative and have fun together. Good luck.

Take your dog to the dog park if you have one, or else visit a park with a large open field. Get a Chuck-it ball launcher or a frisbee and practice fetch with your dog. This is also a good time to practice his recall. I should mention that if he does NOT have a good recall rate already, then you should not have him off-leash in an open field yet, hence the dog park suggestion.
Also, a good long walk or run together is a nice way to wear him out and get him to sleep at night.
You said he does not retrieve. Well, labs are known for retrieving, so you may just need to entice the chase. Once they chase something they love, they will never stop. I suggest you buy him a Kong toy and fill it with peanut butter then let him chase that in the backyard. You can play fetch in the house with the kong, especially because dogs love how crazy they bounce!

Have fun:)

Why not get your dog into agility or even flyball. Both are high energy workouts for the dog (and for you, too!). Even doing obedience work with your dog will help a lot because he's also getting lots of stimulation for his mind. Keep your lessons short and varied because smart dogs get bored quickly, use lots of praise and that can also be a good workout.

Don't worry if it doesn't retrieve just throw and then run after it they love a good game of tag!
And try hiding yourself ,train it to come to a sound of a whistle.
GOOD LUCK!

i have a 5 yr. old rat terrier. she is very active and hyper. I have a flying disk that she goes and catches.
But you can just take him to the lke and they love water that is if you live around one. if he quits playing after a while on the games you play maybe he is tired.
