Last night when I was with my four puppies I noticed that one of the male puppies had big lumps in his testicle area. It appears to me that they have dropped..but they are also not in the area. There are lumps to the left and right of where the testicles should be. All my other male puppies are not showing signs of theirs dropping. Do you think the puppy is just ahead in his maturity, or do you think this is a real problem?

Here is a picture. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p83/Kelcy1231/Katey12.jpg

More than likely when you get to the vets office they will have retracted back up. (Murphy's law) In which case everything is normal. However that is also the location of a common hernia in dogs. Caused by the testis opening being to large. So you will want to have it checked.

The picture is not very clear, but it appears as if they are OK. Give him a few days and see if there are any signs of the other puppies doing the same thing. If he seems to be in pain or having problems take him to the vet. I have noticed the same thing in my male dachshunds at times. The testicles always moved back up in place on their own with my dogs. I'm not sure about it happening at such a young age though.

I have miniature Dachshunds too. They are just wonderful, the best pets ever!!! Good Luck!

I have 2 dachshunds, one same situation as you and 1 smooth hair. His hair did not grow long, it stayed smooth and short, but I did notice that he sheds a little more than my smooth hair dachshund. Hope that helps.

Sounds like it could be a problem. Don't think the testes would drop this early.

I would have that checked out. that is more likely an internal problem, could be signs of bleeding or internal scar tissue, or fluid building at an injury site...lots of possibilities

I think he needs to go to the vets and let the vet decide. Sometimes they may need pulled back up and sometimes it may be just fine. Best to have a vet.
