Hey Barry,

I have birth records from Scottland from the Old Perocial Records that date back to the 1500's. The link below has other links associated that should give you some othere hints too.

After that, here are some other UK links.

Certification didn't begin until 1837. Prior to that you would need to search parish records, if you have a look on ancestry.co.uk, marriages pre 1837 are quite possibly listed under the Pallot ? listings. You can find it in the box facing the census list at the foot of the home page. Using that list I have found many marriages pre 1837. Good luck it's really time consuming isn't it I love it.

Hi Birth certificates did not come in unti the 1830's so you will not be able to get copies. Your best bet is to look at parish records in the local archives. You can print photo copies of them to keep as a record. Info can also be found on =
Free BMD : Ancestry.com : Family Search : British Origins : Genes Reunited.

Have you ever tried to make sense of these websites offering B.M.D certificates etc?? It is a con and total waste of time, effort and money. According to the BMD amd Census reports neither I nor my family even exist!!!
