Tell them (the hair stylist), you did not expect your hair to be this different, and ask them if they can lighten it a bit. And get a refund.

Be very careful now. Do not be tempted to bleach your hair or color it again from a box. You might try a clarifying shampoo and treatment; just be sure to follow with an intense conditioner. Another possible option is to get what we call a "soap cap" done followed by a toner if needed. This should be done by a licensed pro only.

Well if you wash it with shampoo not meant to protect the color, or spend time in the sun it will fade and become a few shades lighter, but it will also become more dull. Some places though have a guarantee, if you come back within like 7-10 days and are not satisfied they will change it.
Good luck!

instead of using shampoo use washing up liquid it will lighten the colour gradually, use it instead of shampoo everyday until you get your desired colour after that use a colour seal shampoo to lock in your new gorgeous colour and next time you go to the hair dressers for colour ask for just a tone darker than the colour on your head

wash it over and over again... also use shampoo fro blond hair. Just try to wash your hair everyday for a week or two... it should get lil lighter. Then if u won't like it, buy a new hair color
