The old fashioned way of hairdressing was to take several strands of hair and twist them so that they are smooth then go against the smoothness by push then strands with one hand and with the other push upwards so that ends stick out a bit. these are the dead ens then they would be cut and snipped. But hairdressers have no time to do this now a days shame really because it is the only way to get rid of dead ends but not the length. Find a hairdressers that are willing to do this. real hairdressers are actually trianed init so finding one that got trained in a college instead of the saloon would help in your quest. Oils only prevent they do not get rid of . But be sure to use a deep conditioner once your hair is good again.

you need yo get a trim every 6-8 weeks depending on the style and length of you hair.
avocado oil is AMAZING for the hair with all the amino fatty acids and vitamins
also egg whites will serve as a "glue" for split ends but as you can imagine, will be very messy. and nothing works better than a trim!
also the quality of the shampoo and conditioner that you use makes a HUGE difference. I like Biolage conditioning balm conditioner and Hydrating shampoo. Redken "Anti-Snap" is a great leave in conditioner.
these are some or my favourite "tried and true" products. alot of times with products you get what you pay for!
Good Luck!

For dead ends your best option would be to get your hair trimmed. Then you use a very good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair. And if you use a lot of heat products, cut back as this could be the cause of your dead ends.
