Tescos are getting disgraceful for customer service if you shop late at night. In Wellingborough and Northampton, either you check yourself out or you do not get to buy. Forget customer service on the night shifts. The customer is NOT welcome.
It doesn't matter if there are staff busy talking to each other near a till - they make you use the self-service instead.
Even Aldi checks my food out for me.
Sainsbury's give good customer service I agree, Waitrose / M&S the most expensive, Aldi and Lidl cheapest (very little between them I find).
When we had one locally, KwikSave was undoubtedly the poorest for cleanliness AND food safety. Several times I had bought items which were perfectly within their "sell by" date but had perished. Stacking WAY higher than the freezer loading line probably didn't help.
They were prosecuted a few times in Wellingbrough and then finally they closed down.

Well, I'm in Illinois and I've NEVER heard of these stores, except Aldis. We have Jewel-Osco. They are expensive, customer service is mostly pleasant, and it's clean and have good quality products. We have Dominick's too that is pretty much ranking the same as Jewel's. Walmart SuperCenter doesn't have the best variety of fruits and veggies and the quality is not so great. But the prices aren't too bad. However, the customer service is decent. As for Aldi, well, their produce sucks! And is very limited. The store is fairly clean and they are getting just as expensive as the more popular grocery stores with a non-name brand products. The customer service is decent too, though.

Worst for hosting a Christmas Party for - Tescos!!
Rude, deliberately antagonistic, no respect for the people serving them food and drink, chuck food and drink and chewing gum on the floor. Moan about everything.
How would they feel if we behaved like that towards them when we did our shopping there.
Knowing how difficult customer service jobs can be, I am always polite and courteous when I go shopping somewhere and you would think with the job they do that when they go somewhere they would understand this but no they all acted like complete scumbags with no respect for anyone or our property.
I'm never shopping there again!
I love Morrisons - lovely people when shopping there and when we did their christmas party!
Fidgety whatever - read my answer properly before critisizing. i do work in Customer service behind a bar and have to deal with pissed up morons every week, so don't tell me what i already know. We had the tescos christmas party in our function room and they acted like I described above. What I am saying is that if they don't like getting treated like this when they are behind the checkout why go out and act ten times worse and treat us behind the bar like we are complete sh*t?
How would they like it if I chucked chewing gum at them while they are on the till or shouted 'get me a f*cking tin of baked beans now' If I acted like that in a supermarket, it would be atrocious behaviour so why do the staff at my local tescos treat other people in this manner when they are not at work.
You try doing my job then critisize me!!!

Agree with you on Sainsburys/customer service and M&S/most expensive. Dirtiest/Lidl's.
Tesco/vegetables are anything but fresh!
To 'zeggy' above....ever tried working on a checkout with the 'scumbags' who come into Tesco???? Try working on the checkouts - you might see the other side of things if you did and it's not pleasant!!
