You connect an antenna or cable TV to it's input and the picture information is sent to your computer via a USB 2.0 port. Software will display it on your computer screen.

It doesn't need to be connected to the internet. Whatever analog channels are available on your home TV via your antenna or cable TV connection will be available on the computer.
