Your son's school seems to have some mixed up priorities. You need to go in and speak with the pricipal of the school to get this situation resolved. Both of them should have been suspended. Where the other childs parents called and made aware their kid has a crack pipe and is bringing it to school? You may want to consider tranferring you child to another school. The Board of Ed. can help you with this. You may be able to tranfer out of district to a town with a safer, and better school system. We can do that where I live.
Also, you really need to be concerned with why your son stole the pipe in the first place. I know as a parent it may be hard to accept, but was he planning on using it? You need to have a talk with him about drugs and how doing drugs can affect his life and the lives of those around him.

Firstly, your son stole from another student.
Secondly, he was the one found with said item on his person. Possession is 9/10 of the law.
My question is, why would your son steal a crack pipe in the first place? I would be way more concerned about what was going on there than a school suspension. Maybe as a parent, you should look beyond this little 'smoke screen' and get to the root of your problem. Is your child on drugs and how is that going to affect your family?

I dont think I would be concerned about the suspension, I would be more concerned why my son wanted a crack pipe!Being suspended is just a sign of whats to come if he doesn't get help! Stealing and crack pipes go hand and hand.

I would say that the other boy did not claim the pipe and therefore you are very lucky that the police were not called and you son arrested for drug stuff. If there was a way to getr the other boys fingerprints off the pipe would have been your sons only defense. Are you not angry that he had taken something to do with drugs anyway. I would have been furious and my child would have been grounded for a month.

I agree with some of the others on here that your issue shouldn't be with the school, but with your son. Maybe it was a good thing it happened, as he now might make more responsible choices about who he decides to hang around with. You need to count your lucky stars that they didn't bring the police into the matter and have your son arrested for posession. Just a word of advice, you may want to make sure that your son isn't pulling the "wool over your eyes" by suggesting it belonged to someone else. There is an issue with proving who it belonged to as well - it is impossible. Discuss making responsible choices with your son....

I think they deserve equal punishment. The other boy should also have CPS called and take some kind of drug prevention classes. Ofcourse your son was wrong for stealing but what kind of message does that send? It's okay to do crack as long as you don't steal.

I think the school was wrong in this decision, but more importantly, you should focus on you son and why he stole a crack pipe.

your school was right to suspend your son, he stole something, thats a crime.
but they should have suspended the other boy as well, for drugs.
i think your lucky he stole something ilegal, the police could of been called.
if i was you id be more worried about your own son, he just stole something, something drug related, you need words with your son, now.
