Jack Russells are hyper dogs that need to be busy doing something to burn up that energy. Give him plenty of toys to play with. When he nips at you, which is typical puppy behavior, let him know that it is not acceptable. Scold him and turn away from him. Refuse to look at him and ignore him. If you have a crate (and you really need one) lock him up as you scold him. Puppies (and dogs) live for your attention and denying him of that will often stop that kind of behavior. Be sure to praise him and give him treats for good behavior and scold him for bad behavior so that he knows the difference. With time he will learn what is expected.

Since it's a puppy, it wants to play. Tell it NO. You should go to a book store and get the book "The Jack Russell Terrier Courageous Companion" by Catherine Romaine Brown. It is a great book. My Jack is 5 years old and has NEVER tried to bite me or anyone else.

I am afraid that I have the same trouble with my Jack Russell female. I have her for 4 months now (got her from the animal welfare centre). She is gorgeous but jumps about trying to bite me everywhere. I think that they are just very playful. She does the same to my other dog Ralph, pulls his ears and jumps and bites at him all the time. If he has enough he lets her know and she stops. Try saying NO everytime she jumps and bites and get her to sit. If she obeys you can reward her with a little treat.
I hope that all works out well for you. Good luck.

When he starts to bite you, get some lemon juice or cayanne pepper, and put some in his mouth no more than three seconds after the fact. Otherwise he will have no idea why he is being punished. So make sure you just have them lemon spuirt bottle handy at all times like right next to you when you are with your puppy.

He probably just wants to play or something. Jack Russells are hyper high maintenance dogs.

Tell him NO and give him a toy, do not let him think you are a chew toy, pack leaders do not allow chewing.
