Smegma. It is normal...gross, but normal.

Yes, if it excessive and green, it can be an infection, but a small amount of pale yellow discharge from the sheath is quite normal. ANYONE who has male dogs has to know that. Not ALL discharge is infection. My male had a pale yellow discharge and it was seen at the reproduction specialist at Cornell. It is NORMAL!!

My boxer does the same thing. As everyone has said, it's most likely smegma, the lubricant on their penis, that is leaking out. Provided that he is urininating normally (not excessively, able to control it), and drinking normal amounts of water, I would say your dog just has excess smegma. My dog was neutered when he was 4 1/2 (when I got him) and was a breeding dog before that, although "leaking" like that can occur regardless of when the dog was neutered. My dog frequently gets infections because he has excess and it builds up. Since I know that's what it is, I have a solution to safely and gently clean in his sheath. Until you know for sure though that is all it is, do NOT clean it. The mixture I have is very dilute. Too harsh of a soap or solution can dry him out and make him not only uncomfortable, but can actually worsen his infection due to the irritation. I would take him in to the vet and get it checked out and see what treatment course they recommend, especially if it ever has an odor.

My dog had it, and the vet said it is OK, normal. It stopped when he was neutered. although the vet said that it wouldn't necessarily stop, it didn't have much to do with neutering, but it stopped in his case.

It could also be a uniary tract infection. Go see the vet just to be sure.

Sounds like an infection to me. You should check it out to be sure.
