Well...for the most part, I think people are on here to find someone who agrees with them - trying to get a consensus of a problem and if the majority agree with what they've had in mind already, it makes for a good use of Y!A. If someone says something they dislike, they are more inclined to "bite our heads off" simply because it wasn't what they really wanted to hear.

Think about it - you can go on Y!A and ask these questions to get an idea of what "most people" think and if in agreement with you, you can use that as a basis for any decision you might have/had to make. It's much easier than asking your friend(s) who might honestly and openly tell you you're wacko (in a friendly manner). Here, you can get the opinions of others and those that agree with you get the thumbs up. The ones who don't - get an "additional details" like anyone cares when the additional details is bashing someone who probably told it like it is.

You're right, it's their question - they don't have to get mad - just go to the next question or whatever....

Ignorance is a preferred state; it's perceived to be easier. If you don't know yourself and no one ever told you, you can claim ignorance as a defense. So, when asked hard questions that require people to "think", it goes against the beloved state of ignorance. Most would rather react in a neanderthal mentality (survival and protective) than reflect for better discourse and higher consciousness.

Find a more mature audience.

Maybe it hit a nerve about something they are doing and they get mad. Some people have a hard time admitting they are wrong. I think more of them get a nerve hit than they want to admit . That is one of the reasone I love this site so much we can talk freely of our love for God and not get into any trouble and as long as we are careful and not purposely trying to hurt anyone we can ask whatever we want. I am sorry for thise that get mad but why not try to understand instead of getting mad. I tell my kids you have the same clothes to get glad in. Love in the Lord Merry Christmas to all.

That would depend on the tone of the question.
Some questions are not really questions they are attempts to make others look bad. For example one person recently asked

"Have you hypocrites put up your IDOL yet, the CHRISTmas tree?"
Anouther person wanted to know if phyc drugs were the cure for religous discord.

Those were not questions they were put downs.

And those people should expect that some people will be angry.

Sometimes I think people come on here to relieve frustrations and blow off steam so they are looking for something to get upset about to enable them to do that. I guess its a whole lot better than taking a gun to the mall and blasting away so we should count our blessings. LOL
