a serious question from me for once, last year our car an 03 vauxhall corsa had its windscreen smashed sitting outside our door in the middle of the night. we have done nothing to upset the locals. i knew when it was done it was because it had english plates (we live in the north of ireland) i said different as not to upset mrs kumkuat, shes english by the way. i have recently found out who it was and why they did it. apparently english people are unwelcome in my estate. so i know who it was i know where they live my big dilemma is they have kids and a partner. i'm in 2 minds whether to put the bastard in casualty or let it go. i'm open to suggestions. its nearly christmas.

to be honest id leave it you live in an area where people know who you are and where your from. You might be able to put the guy in casualty but ill guarantee you that you will be hounded out of the area! Your weakness lies in the fact that they know where you live and your not always at home or you sleep like any normal person so this makes damaging your property or vehicle that much easier and there's plenty of little toerags about that will do that kind of thing for free!
If i was you i would keep the head down and if you can maybe talk to the guy PEACEFULLY! you have only heard one side of the story and it could be completely different for all you know. I know if it was me id be wanting to rip his heart out etc etc but you need to take a step back and look at the whole situation, if you retaliate then you will be making yourself a very attractive target for reprisals leading to a vicious cycle where you cant even sleep at night thinking about when or where the next attack will come.

Hope this helps a little bud. Merry Christmas
(Andy, Glasgow)

Putting him "in casualty" may make you feel better for a time, but it won't make you any more welcome where you live. In fact, it will only reinforce the reason why English folk are unwelcome there. You could turn him into the police so he could face the consequences of his act, but again this won't help the underlying reason why it happened in the first place.

You should write this fellow a letter telling him you know what he did, but also tell him you'd like to break the cycle of hatred. Ask him for suggestions of what can be done to achieve this. Explain to him why you are living in that estate and that you have no ill feelings towards him or any of your neighbors. If you try to start a dialog about this it may open his mind a bit, and perhaps that of the locals as well. It may not play out like this, but it certainly can't hurt.

Good luck!

Don't get into a fight, violence doesn't solve anything and two wrongs don't make a right! Just have a quiet word (if that's possible) with the culprit and send Christmas love all around...! Show him, that you are actually just like anyone else and you don't wanna cause any upset or problems around the estate.

I think what annoys you here is that you know it is him, and you would like him to know that you do as well. It must be irritating for you, him thinking he has `got away with it` and thinking he has got one over on you. What he thinks dose not matter. As the others have said tell the police and then forget all about it. You are a far better man than he will ever be.

let him no ur not worried or scared and turn it into a joke by wearin a shirt with a target printed on the back, he's obviously a spineless coward who will only attack a poor innocent defenceless car in the dead of night when no 1 can see him.

Well, I'd suggest you report it to the police, but have you got any concrete evidence?
Otherwise, as per a previous answer, you may have to let it go.

give all the information to the police, make a report....taking care of it yourself will only make matter worse. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Tell him you will turn him in unless he comes and cleans your flat once a week. He must also wear a pretty maid's uniform to do it.

Just leave it alone for now. But if it happens again, you will have to do something.
