IBS is terrible. She needs to be careful on what she takes, because certain things can make her IBS swing from one extreme to the other. Not having a bowel movement for three days is pretty normal for constipation-predominant IBS. It hurts, too, though.
I know that you want an all-natural remedy, but if she is very stopped up, those may take an additional two days to work. If she needs relief NOW, try suggesting that she take a 2-tbsp dose of Milk Of Magnesia. It's fairly close to natural, and will not make her cramp.
Make sure that she's drinking a lot of water. If she doesn't want to take Milk Of Magnesia, suggest that she takes about 4-6 calcium-magnesium vitamin supplements. The magnesium has been known to make people defecate more.
Water, water, water, though. It will loosen the stool that is already in her bowels.

Try a bulk laxative
For results within 12 to 24 hours, take 5 to 10 grams per day of psyllium husk or 3 to 4 grams per day of glucomannan mixed in water, followed by a second glass of water
Get more fibre and water in your diet
To increase stool bulk, include more vegetables, beans, bran, linseed, and whole grains in your diet; don’t forget to drink more water when you increase fibre intake
Get a check-up
Constipation that starts suddenly should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to make sure no serious diseases are the cause

They're starting to say that anyone with IBS should be checked for celiac disease. I was misdiagnosed with IBS for 18 years. The average time it takes to get a diagnosis is 11 years.
Here's the webpage on celiac disease by the National Institute of Health. http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases...
If that starts sounding familiar here are a couple of message boards to visit.
www.glutenfreeforum.com
www.celiacforums.com
There are also other common foods that can cause IBS-type problems. Soy, eggs, corn, dairy, yeast, etc. You might want to consider keeping a food/symptoms diary to see if you can figure out what foods trigger her symptoms.

That sounds unpleasant for her. I had a friend with a similar problem - she used to take a spoonful of olive oil or similar - it probably isn't very nice to do but it seemed to help her to get moving.
Personally, I find a cup of coffee generally does the job. Good luck to her!

What is ibs? Why is everyone using unknown initials on this site. They are not used in medicine. Give the woman a large enema.
