1. Oh, what? Really? Good thing our parents are planning and paying for this shite, I know NOTHING of weddings except that they suck and I'm only doing it to please our families and my lover and yes he knows what my attitude is. Guess, that's part of the things I'll eventually say "okay, ya whatever you like. I don't really care that much. It's just a little party. Don't you people get it?!"

2. Showers? Oh, those things are hell! I'm not giving my torturess a gift! I never asked for a wedding shower, but I'm more than sure I'm going to get at least one! Gah. Her choice, not mine.

With my wedding we ran into a similar problem and I asked a wedding consultant the same question.

Bridesmaides and groomsmen of course get a gift but also should you have anyone volunteering their time (pastor, caterer, etc.) a gift would be appropriate.

If a shower is given by an individual then yes, at each shower you should give the hostess a gift. However, if a large group is hosting a party for you (your entire office) then a shower gift is not necessary.

I only had one shower, and I gave the hostess a huge basket of gift cards,

I gave gifts to like everyone on my side who were at the Grooms Dinner: All my attendents/anyone who had any kinds of "job" in the wedding, my parents, their sisters (there are only two still alive, and neither has a living spouse and neither of my parents had brothers) and my inlaws. I think I gave something to my sister in law, even though she refused to stand up for the wedding. (long story, but it sure set the stage for our relationship or lack there of)
