We're told that he has made mistakes (the Flood, for instance) and regretted them. We know that his creation is imperfect (too many examples to list here). We know that all the evils which he could supposedly do away with, persist in spite of him.

So why worship a screw-up god?

Well exactly - who says God is perfect? Only God, essentially, if you believe it exists and/or has spoken to us. Meanwhile there's the moderate embarrasment of teh New Testament..."Look you guys, I used to be real cranky, but I've figured out now that, well, essentially, all you need is love. So forget what I said, just do as I say..."
What's next? Is God gonna wake up one day and find the Devil in the shower, alive after all, and the last two thousand years have just been a dream? Mind-boggling that people dance to the changing line of a God so self-contradictory and insist there's no contradiction...

Who told you God isn't perfect? God is perfect and never makes mistakes. His creation had plenty of warnings to turn away from their wicked ways but they didn't listen. So he caused a flood but where in the Bible does it say he felt bad for that? They deserved it. And the first man and woman were perfect and given free will. It's not because of God that we are imperfect-it's Adam and Eve's fault. They were perfect and knew what was right and wrong and disobeyed. And also, if God just killed everyone to start over, then you wouldn't be here writing your question and neither would the rest of us. It's a shame that you have such disrespect for the very being that gave you life.

to those that reported God would not choose us, we choose him, I incredibly have a query: Why do we choose God? If that is a few thing like, 'we choose God so as that we are able to get into heaven' (that's, face it, the suitable argument for Christianity and probable some different religions as properly), then this remains asserting that God calls for worship for some reason. in any different case, if we did not could worship God to get into heaven, then human beings do not unavoidably could. I comprehend desirous to, yet making it a call for to get into heaven is asserting that God calls for worship. needless to say especially religions (specifically Christianity) God calls for it; that isn't the question she asked. stressful is requiring, she asked WHY. i admire this question.

I have been thinking why we have so much suffering and pain. A lot of that is caused by our own actions or sometimes we are suffering because of other people and their choices.

I have never been a religious person. But just a little while ago God started to talk to me. He talks to me through events and people and through His word.

He allows a lot of devastation, but like Job, I put my faith in Him. Many people say do this and do that, but I am really trying to look into what God wants me to do. My life changes, circumstances changes, He is the same. He is God. So why on earth I would not worship Him. He has all the answers. He can take my lack of faith and understanding, but it is very hard on me if I walk away from my Lord if I am mad at Him over something.

There is nationwide Bible study going ( By Rick Warren, the author of Purpose Driven Life ) and it is geared toward community. I have learned that we are better together. ( That is the name of the study too ).

Worship is for God, it is not about me and how I think about it. We suffer here, we have pains of different kinds, but this life here is only a temporary assignment ( from the book Purpose Driven Life )..we will be with God forever after that. And it is offered to you too, you just need to accept it, : )

Who told you he wasn't perfect? God is definitely perfect but it is us who are not. We have free will and we make mistakes because we can choose to do whatever. His plans are perfect. It doesn't look like it to us because we only know a little compared to him who knows everything there is to know! Being that he can see all of the past, present, and all the outcomes of the future he has the wisdom to make all these bad things happening on earth work out for good. He is using all this evil that we are allowed to do to test us and make us perfect.
There is no other way for us to become like him if we don't know that evil exists. He simply will not violate our free will so that's why evil is running rampant. He will not intervene unless we pray for it. When he first created everything including us, it was perfect but became corrupted eventually. Again it was a choice by Adam and Eve.

You are assuming that this God you speak of is some being somewhere "out there" external of us. That is not the case at all.

God is the formless, genderless, omnipresent, eternal energy source which is the process of life itself. Not a being, or an old guy with a long white beard and flowing robes sitting in a throne in some heaven in outer space somewhere. We are each an individuation of God, created of the same matter as God. Together we are the sum (son) total of God.

The process of life IS perfect as it is, "problems" and all. If everything in the world were perceived as "perfect" what would we have to strive for? The fact is, that we are the authors of all of the drama in our lives and we LOVE it! We love having obstacles to overcome. This is the very nature of being human and is exactly what we have CHOSEN to be here to experience, in our eternal journey as spiritual beings. We are spiritual beings here experiencing a human existence and we all chose specifically to be here, in this form, while we were still in spirit or soul form, way before we came into being physically.

You have to first prove that God is not perfect. Having created you with such a developed brain to enable you to ask this intelligent question, how can He be imperfect?

Who told you the flood was a mistake? He made a planet and the universe, made a man and woman and the animals et al, then gave them freewill. God is prefect, you are not.

Dear Weemary,

God is PERFECT.

He is worthy of the constant praise of ALL creation.

We are imperfect because our ancestors failed to obey the single command they were given.

All will bow before Him in adoration before long.
Have you come into a Right Relationship with Him yet through Jesus Christ? If not do it today!

Perfection can be so boring !

Try the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster for a change...
Worship is done when cooking and eating pasta.
