no you don't need to have your passport for 6 months prior to visiting thailand but you must know that you can only stay in thailand for one month. After 30 days you must cross over borders before coming back into the country.

No.. You do need only a valid Passport.
If the passport is due to expire within 6 months... most countries will not allow entry.
