Specious argumenters like me might be able to make sense of the differences between the two terms of "believer" and "non-believer" :) haha
Okay, onto serious business......
In any religion, whatever it may be, you will find that those who follow its laws, rules, etc. consider anyone who does not follow the tenets of their particular faith to be "non-believers". (i.e. Muslims do not consider Jews to be "believers" of the Muslim faith, just as Jews do not consider Muslims "believers" of the Jewish faith.) It is a cut and dried argument to understand. From within any given religion, anyone outside that faith is inherently a "non-believer".
Where it gets complicated is when DOCTRINE and religious traditions enter into the mix. Then you have what are known as sects or denominations (Baptists, Methodists, Mennonites, etc.)
What's arguably scary about all this is that the three biggest religious faiths in this world (Judiasm, Christianity and Muslim) all profess to worship the same God, even to the point that all three can trace their roots to Abraham. Does that make them all believers of each other's religious tenets based on a common root? Of course not.
It's the doctrines and man-made variances of those doctrines are what primarily set them apart from one another, which inherently makes them "believers" of their OWN religious tenets, and "unbelievers" of any others.
Simply put, everyone indeed *IS* a believer of something...even atheists "believe" there is no God......So in that sense, it would be impossible to be a non-believer. Despite this common bond, the only way to define someone who believes in another religion is to define *yourself* as a "non-believer" of *THEIR* religion or subsequent doctrine.

The idea of "believer" when referring to the Christian ideal has been lost today in the majority of Protestant sources. One person has instructed you that it is simple or easy. Well the knowing may be simple but to be a "believer" is a daily walk, a lifestyle change it is not a one time event of accepting Jesus into your heart as Savior. A believer must carry their cross everyday, they must attempt to fight the good fight, and must pummel your body least you also fall out and misled others as the apostle Paul wrote. To a Christian to believe means more than intellectual consent it means love. Quoting bible verse cannot convey enough the requirement of love.

Great question, as I would like to know myself. I am guessing a "believer" is one who believes in God and an "unbeliever" is one who doesn't? I am not sure if my assumption is correct though.

If someone's talking about a specific religion I mean a believer of that religoon, but I mean a believer of any religion if I just say "believer." But how many times do you actually say "believer" and not refer to a specific religion?

When I say "believer" I refer to someone who knows Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Most often when Christians say "Believer" we are referring to one who has made a conscience decision to accept Christ as Savior and be obedient to the Bible. To become a believer is quite simple.
1.Admit you are a sinner. The Bible, God's Holy Word, says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10; also Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
2.You must realize that sin bears a penalty. Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Revelations 20:14 says, "And death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
3. You must accept the fact that Jesus has already paid the sin debt you owe. We read in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Christ died to pay the penalty for your sins because He loves you and cares about you.
4. You must accept by faith what Christ has done for you. Again from the book of Romans 10:9 we read, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt beleive in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Friend if you wish to know you're going to heaven ask Jesus into your heart right now. Its easy. Pray a prayer like this one: Dear God I know I'm a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ your Son died for me and shed His blood to pay the price for my sins. I am willing to turn from my sins. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life as my perfect Savior. Amen.
If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, then this is the beginning of a new and beautiful life for you. To help you along here are a few suggestions:
Read your King James Bible everyday to get to know Christ better.
Talk to God everyday in prayer.
Be baptized, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is taught and the Bible is the final authority.
Tell others about what Jesus Christ has done for you.
Christ is your only hope for heaven. Don't put off this decision. You don't know in these times how soon you might be meeting Jesus.
"Be not afraid, only believe." Mark 5:36

All of them asked,
Are you, then,
the Son of God?
He said to them,
You say that I am...
God abides in those
who confess that
Jesus is the Son of God,
and they abide in God."
