Our religious beliefs help us to tell the difference between right and wrong. If we don't teach them the difference between right and wrong the world will beat that knowledge into them.
Exp. If you have sex before marriage, don't be surprised if you end up with an unwanted child, and maybe even a disease (not even condoms are 100% effective.)
Exp. If you steal don't be surprised if you end up in jail or that your victim is willing to shoot you to get his stuff back.
When they are old enough (sometime in the teens) you can give them some options, but if they want to change something about their lives make them give you good reasons while they are living in your house. It would be fun to change religion is not a valid reason. Make then give you logical arguments why you are wrong and they are right. If they are able to win an adult type argument (no temper-tantrums, no screaming, no sas, no begging, no whining) with logical reasons. then maybe it is time to start giving them some adult responsibilities and that includes having there own world view.
If you are not willing to raise your own children in the way they should go, in what sense are you a parent? Children need help in finding there way through life, if you don't help them the drug dealers, pedophiles, tv producers will....and allot of other people you don't agree with will.

I think it's natural that people raise their kids according to their believes. I don't believe in any religion, so I would raise my kids without religion. But it should not be done with pressure and the children should be able to learn about other faiths and the possibility not to believe in a religion as well. But you can't ask from parents that they should be neutral in this regard. Of course everyone will tell their kids what they believe and children will mostly believe their parents at least as long as they are small. The children can learn at school about the other options that are there, and from their friends.

I think the modern world has proven that we must be vigilant when breeding morality in our children and be cautious that we do not let the pains of the past effect how the future is created.
Raising children in accordance to a set of moral standards which ensure that we live together in a cohesive, supportive society then this is good. If on the otherhand the religious instruction creates paths of ignorance, fear and hate then this is not good for society.
Which ever religion a child is taught I believe it is important that tollerance is also taught about other faiths, afterall even if one is correct then the others must be incorrect, so there is as much chance of not being right than being right.
Teach your children to be good to one another, everything else is a bonus.

Hello zifikos.. :)
If a parent is believer, how can they avoid raising their children according to the way in which they are living..would they raise their children without the knowledge of God..
Just as a non-believer would raise their children in what they believed in..would they raise their children and teach them about the Lord..
Merry Christmas..to All..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

I remember your saying that it's your Religious duty to make as many Muslim children as possible, Zifikos; so, I know that it's no use in my telling you this.
Especially considering the fact that you Muslims indoctrinate little children who are capable of reciting the Koran by the age of 6?!!?
But, do you know something? You're making your children mentally unhinged.
Children should be allowed to have fun and play and enjoy themselves. They'll learn slowly and steadily.
And the Koran in Arabic, isn't the ideal thing for them to grow up with.especially because most Muslims don't speak nor know Arabic and the poor little kids are merely parroting a lot of crap.
For Heavens sake have some mercy on those innocent little children.
Merry Christmas!!!!

All parents who have a religious tradition may want to raise their children in that same culture. That is understandable. And giving kids no spiritual vision is denying them one of the most important parts of human life. The key is in making sure that they are encouraged to think for themselves, ask questions of authority, and know that there is nothing wrong with people having different spiritual paths to follow. It is only the intolerant and fearful religious folk who are the problem, and their need to control has nothing to do with God.

The Presbyterian Church is mainstream to liberal of their techniques-set. Baptism to them is a sprint distinctive than different church homes. maximum don't think the hell stuff. a little one is harmless- Baptism is extra related to the kinfolk promising to hold the baby up as a Christian. The minister will in all probability be open minded approximately your no longer being married. besides the shown fact that it relatively is a solemn sacrament and the minister will might desire to verify you recognize that's magnitude. besides the shown fact that that's no longer his accountability-it is your accountability. in case you do no longer bypass to church, you are the main effect on the baby's religious teachings. I even have been to many Baptisms in this church. the 1st section is classic. Then the minister oftentimes asks the completed congregation in the event that they are going to help bring up the baby as a Christian additionally. So- your no longer being a member adjustments the equation plenty. i'm particular the minister needs to appreciate your motivation . Be uncomplicated and open with him. This minister will maximum in all probability be extra information than you predict. i'm extra religious than religous and have chanced in this form of church to have a favorable techniques-set approximately those issues......

i think you should raise your children according to your religious belief's because it not only help's your child gain structure but, they in turn usually turn out believing in whatever you believe in, sometimes thats not the case though. I would leave it open for them to decide what they want to do though of course when the time comes that they can make that decision.

We have a responsibility to raise our children in the ways that they should go. When they get old enough to make intelligent decisions for themselves then their salvation will have to be worked out between them and God.
