It's difficult to justify the use of the phrase "Realities of spiritual things" - something spiritual is only tangible to those who believe in it, it may or may not be a reality to others.
Why can't those who believe and those who don't believe just respect each other's point of view?

Just as no two people see the exact same thing at the same time because no two people can occupy the same space ... No two people experience the same reality about anything, because no two people have the same emotional make-up.

I think it's nice you've found a book you've enjoyed reading. Would you please stop posting sections of it all over yahoo and trying to pass it of as a legitimate question? This is the 5th or 6th time you've done it that I know of.

Good question, because they are the babes in Christ like Paul said. They are ruled by carnality (the lower animal nature and are very much divided within themselves) and these higher realities are hidden from them since their hearts are hardened from truly experiencing them (this is by law, for the law is sow what you reap, they have not shown what is necessary to reap what is sufficient), since they won't do what is necessary to expand their minds beyond the organic level. They are of an organic consciousness and take everything for literalism. Very much the syndrome of thee letter that kills, their complacency towards truth has inhibited themselves from knowing and in some ways their faith is dead, unfortunately. Those elementary concepts have limited them from progressing forward, so they can only discern what is of the physical sense, but they proclaim things that they have never seen nor experienced. Paul said, "To prove all things," and they have inhibited themselves from doing so. People of a natural organic consciousness can't by any means understand spiritual things, they are raised off milk. They are by no means ready to understand the esoteric side of their theology. If only they understood how the church was before the 4th century.
This is how things were taught, Early Church Father Origen wrote: “Now, in answer to such statements, we say that it is not the same thing to invite those who are sick in soul to be cured, and those who are in health to the knowledge and study of divine things. We, however, keeping both these things in view, at first invite all men to be healed, and exhort those who are sinners to come to the consideration of the doctrines which teach men not to sin, and those who are devoid of understanding to those which beget wisdom, and those who are children to rise in their thoughts to manhood, and those who are simply unfortunate to good fortune, or -- which is the more appropriate term to use -- to blessedness. And when those who have been turned towards virtue have made progress, and have shown that they have been purified by the word, and have led as far as they can a better life, then and not before do we invite them to participation in our mysteries. ‘For we speak wisdom among them that are perfect’”.
Origen wrote: “I have not yet spoken of the observances of all that is written in the gospel, each one of which contains much doctrine difficult to be understood, not merely by the multitude, but even by certain of the more intelligent, including a very profound explanation of the parables, which Jesus delivered to ‘those without' while reserving the exhibition of their full meaning for those who have passed beyond the stage of esoteric teachings, and who came to him privately in the house. And when he comes to understand it, he will admire the reason why some are said to be without, and others in the house”.
Truth only comes to those who prepare themselves for it, they can't know truth anymore than a baby enrolling into college. The ability to know depends on your capacity to live what you know in word, thought, desire, and deed and the full measure of such depends between the relationship of the physical and spiritual, wich is purifying oneself and unloosing the mind from the philosophies and ignorances which inhibit the spiritual principle in you. They can't know because they don't really follow their guy (Jesus) teachings, but they have this doctrine by Martin Luther which alienates them from knowing anything of value. Which is why an Atheist or agnostic can catch Christians in their words and make them look like they don't even know what their theology is about with any depth. They are nourished off milk to live better lives, but coming into the mysteries of God they are not prepared for unless they let go of their literalism and turn their scriptures within. Furthermore, gnosis is accompanied by faith, faith is living what you know towards an ideal that can be attained within your power and gnosis is the reward of your action put to use to prove these things in yourself.
