The malaria protozoa then develops for a number of days depending on the type or species. development goes on in the liver and the blood system later producing the symptoms such as headache, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, bodypains, joint pains etc

Go with Zeep's answer. If you want a website, try SBRI, the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute. There are several labs there studying malaria, and they might have some interesting links. They have a tab for diseases, and malaria is in there on the list.

Malaria is caused by bite of infected Anopheles mosquito. This type of mosquito breeds in stagnant water. Malaria is transferable by mosquito bite only. It needs immediate medical care which must not be delayed under any circumstances. Cover the child with mosquito nets so that no other mosquito bites him and malaria is not spread.
Take proper care of him.
Bless you

The disease is caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Plasmodium. The most serious forms of the disease are caused by Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax, but other related species (Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium malariae) can also infect humans. This group of human-pathogenic Plasmodium species are usually referred to as malaria parasites.

Malaria parasites are transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes. So, thats how he got it. Too bad your doctor didn't tell you all this. I find that hard to believe
