Maybe its not the right religion. Try exploring other paths, reading up on them and stuff.

Your spirit is there, and its obvious you want that feeling for a religion

but oyu know i went through the same thing. I went to church, I felt no spirit at all and i couldnt understand a word of the bible i wanted to read it but it was all jiberish and i couldnt... But my religion came to me. I didnt have to go to it or try hard to feel for it. and I am very happy now

Just do some research. Or maybe pray or whatever you decide to do.

Or maybe you are trying to hard. But I really dont think there is a trying to hard when it comes to God.

Goodluck

Sit down clear your mind and don't worry about others. Sometimes its hard to hear the voice of God because of all the other thoughts bouncing around in our heads. Just by trying you are getting closer. One step at a time my friend. As you grow in the spirit things will become clearer and easier for you. We are all just children trying to make our way the best we know how. Don't give up and don't get frustrated by life and the people in it. Talk to God when you are alone and actually try to listen. You wont hear any great booming voices but you may get a feeling that leads to an idea that will comfort you. God bless you and keep you always.

Don't be discouraged. Not everyone is at the same point in their walk with God. If your heart is in the right place and you do believe, then that is all you really need to do. We are all given different spiritual gifts, that could be a reason that you don't feel the spirit when everyone else does. You gift might be completely different. Speak with your pastor and see if he (or she) has any words of wisdom. Do not think that you are not growing closer to Him. There will be a day when you feel that spirit so greatly, just hang in there.

Go to Sunday School. There you will get a book of lessons for each week.....Do those lessons, read the versus required, study them, via bible study book or buy a study bible which I have....Do works: help those that you can, be kind to everyone, stay honest and fair, remember forgiveness is paramount, and try to heal old wounds from family and friends....Time is all it will take....Slowly your faith will grow as will your knowledge. Then you can help bring others to the Lord. Not everyone gets those tingles and rushes when in church for some of us it is a silent peace within. Don't compare yourself with other Christians, everyone receives and feels the Lord differently....Hope this helps you sweetheart , God Bless.

When you say everyone else is feeling the spirit, how can you tell?
It's different for every person. Some feel a quiet peace, others jump and holler (which kinda disrupts us quiet peace folk).

I suppose what I'm trying to get at is, what does it feel like to you to feel the spirit? What has God said on the matter of what you need to do to feel it?

Having a relationship with God is not all about feelings, we know from our human relationships that feelings can be very fickle at times, you already have the desire in your own heart and this is what matters to God, and He will bring you closer to Himself in ways and means that you can not begin to fathom yet.
never mind what way others behave who is to say they are doing it right anyway! they may be just going through the every day motions of religion, I suggest that you join a good prayer group or seek a spiritual director, but whatever you do please do not forget that as you hunger for the Lord He is always right beside you.

It's very simple. Just earnestly follow. You don't know what they're feeling, you're just seeing how they're acting. Maybe if you act like they're acting you ill feel how they feel.

It might feel like you're faking it. The whole point is to let go of yourself. Rid yourself of the part of you that says "Am I worshipping right and feeling the right things?" Try going in there with the intended outcome of worshipping the Lord with all your being. Let your heart swell with your love for Him. Forget your surroundings and just focus on Him and how much He means to you.

You have to conciously change how you are thinking and focusing. The Lord can't do that for you. It is of your own will.

You can try different churches and find one that is right for you. I feel as long as you believe in God and accept him in your heart as you Savior it don't really matter what church you go to. God bless.

Get involved with the church. Get committed with church activities. Help with Sunday School. All churches need help. Offer yourself. You may be surprised at what you get out of it.
