I can understand why you want a puppy they are loving caring funny and never leave your side ( well most of them) If you are looking for a loving dog then make sure it is not one of those snappy small dogs, they are not companions they are pets, i am not saying that small dogs don't love you but from experience bigger dogs seem to have more affection. I just want to make sure that you don't buy a dog and then play with it for only a month or two dogs are for LIFE and you have to know that when you adopt/buy one. there are so many great dogs in shelters because their owners bought them and then forgot about them when they got married or had kids maybe made alot of new friends and then the dogs got destructive from lack of love and care. Dogs rely on you for everything they can't feed or walk themselves and they want love in return for the unconditional love they give you, Dogs are great and if you are serious about getting one i hope you find a perfect companion try a shelter, pet store or breeder. GOOD LUCK

A puppy is a lot of work, and can be very frustrating. You have to take them out ever couple of hours to house break them, but they have a tendency to have "accidents" anyway. They will chew up things that you don't want chewed up the first time you turn your back. They bark. It takes money for vet bills and to feed them.

Unless you really want a dog, don't get a puppy to cure your loneliness. If you do get a puppy make sure that it is the dog has the right size and temperament for what you want. And consider adopting from a shelter.

Consider other alternatives. Get involved in a church. Volunteer for a good cause. Be a Big Sister. Take up a hobby. Get a job or a second job. Loneliness may be a symptom of depression too.

Perfect reason. Here are some breeds that you might like:

Yorkie
Pomeranian
Mutt

If you feel lonley you will probably want a dog that needs some grooming, like a yorkie, so you can have fun putting ribbons on their ears and combing their fur out to a perfect silk. Or maybe a short-haired dog that just needs some exercise. As long as you make sure you are ready for a dog, you have a perfect reason.

Happy holidays! :-]
Hope you have fun with your puppy.

Here are some tips by the way:
Mixed breeds cost less than purebreds, and are non the less lovable.

Buy a puppy that has already had it's shots and it will save you a good amount of cash.

A puppy is a great companion, but you should remember that they are a lot of work...smaller dogs, such as chitzu is a little easier as far as cleaning up after them, but they take a little more time to train...You could try your local SPCA or pound...they are full of animals that need rescuing, but please remember that a puppy grows up and, depending on the breed, may need LOTS of room and excersize...not only that, but they are a LIFETIME commitment, a decision that should be considered by everyone in the household.

You need to think long and hard before getting a puppy. Dog ownership is a tremendous responsibility and something not to be taken lightly. Dog ownership is akin to parenting. It is a long term commitment. You need to realize that you will be responsible for housing, feeding, veterinary care (both preventative and sick care), and more importantly--you will be responsible for the emotion and mental health of the dog for the next 8-15 or more years, depending on the breed you choose. You have to provide training and obedience. You will be responsible for anything he does. You will have to adjust your life around his needs. You won't be able to go out after work with your friends because you have to go home to him.You won't be able to make last minute plans to get away for the weekend or go on vacation without making some kind of arrangements for his care. His needs have to come before yours!

Its a life long commitment on your part, both financial and emotionally but the return you get is worth millions.
