Tattoo shops will not give you a tattoo unless you're 18 or older. I do not recommend doing it yourself, because you increase your risk of infection and other problems. Better to do it in a shop where you'll get clean needles and ink and information on how to care for it.

I'm not a parent but if I was then I would say no because a tattoo is forever and a lot of teens don't get that and don't think of their future because a tat can ruin a good job opportunity. I think when the kid is 18 then they can do whatever they want and they are an adult so they can get a tattoo but before that they can't because they are a minor and it's not like the 16 year old is paying for their tat. So when they are an adult and can pay for their own **** then they can get a tattoo which is legal and they will be more mature and understand how serious tattoos are. It doesn't matter the reason for the tattoo because if it's that important to them now then it will still be important to them in a few years when they are legal and old enough to get a tattoo without mommy and daddy. Tattoos are for adults only and it's an adult decision.

Got a tattoo when I was 14. Still have it, still love it. If somehow it disappeared tomorrow I'd go straight out and get it put back. Not everyone who gets a tatoo done young regrets it.
My bf has 4 tattoos, done when he was 18 (an ugly face on his arm) 20 (Taz on his other arm) and 25 (a face/mask on each shoulder blade. They are to signify "Good" and "Evil" but I think the "Good" one looks evil and the "Evil" one looks tortured!). The only one he even mildly regrets is the Taz.

I got mine done in England about 2 months before I turned 18. They didn't ask for any id or parents' consent. I guess it's because I looked 18 already.

i tattooed a heart on my leg when i was 12, i pierced my nose when i was 13, and i got my friend (he's a professional artist) to give me one when i was 17, the only thing my parents found out about right away was the piercing and they still don't know about the tattoo i got when i was 17.

I believe that I am the youngest person with a natural tattoo, I was born with a birth sign on my lower belly that exactly looks like a tattoo, it is a bouquet of gardenias with a few strawberries and little birds next to it.

I got my tattoo done when I was 17 and I still love it. Do what you want to do and don't listen to anyone else.

You have to be 18 before anyone will tattoo you or have parent's permission.
