I wish to answer Earl D's myths which are fabricated and qouted out of context..
I tell you what Quran really teaches us......
About brotherhood,
" We have not sent thee , O Mohammad, but [as] a mercy unto all creatures."-- The Quran,[xxi, p-326]
" And my mercy encompasseth all things." The quran,[ 7:156]
" Whosoever is kind to to God's creatures, Allah is kind to him."--The Quran
" Who is the most favoured of Allah ? He from whom greatest good comes to his creatures."--The Quran
" All his creatures are Allah's family for thier subsistance is from him, therefore the most beloved of Allah is the person who does greatest good to Allah's creatures."--The Quran
About tolerence.............,
"And if anyone of the idolaters seeketh thy protection (O Muhammad), then protect him so that he may hear the word of God, and afterward convey him to his place of safety. "(The Qur’an 9:6)
About insulting others........,
The Holy Quran lays down:
"You who believe, do not let one (set of) people make fun of another set."
"Do not defame one another."
"Do not insult by using nicknames."
"Do not backbite or speak ill of one another."
(49:11-12)
About killing non-believers........
"[2:190-192] And fight in the cause of Allah with those WHO FIGHT WITH YOU, and DO NOT EXCEED THE LIMITS, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from where they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) until they FIGHT WITH YOU in it, but IF THEY DO FIGHT YOU, then slay them; such is the reward of the unbelievers. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility EXCEPT AGAINST THE OPPRESSORS."
Islam has answers to all misery and oppression in the world.
Moreover I fail to understand why Islam is growing faster and faster despite all propaganda against it.
To MC ginti.........one question....,What do you say about the following historians..
" It is altogether a misconception that the Arabian progress was due to the 'sword' alone.THE SWORD MAY CHANGE AN ACKNOWLEDGED NATIONAL CREED, BUT IT CAN NOT EFFECT THE CONSCIENCES OF MEN."-- [The Historic Role of Islam, by M.N.Roy,pg-49,Vora & Co.8 Round Building, Bombay-2]
" Islam, a dynamic religion, today is winning converts with ease at the expense of other religions."--[A history of World Civilization, by JAMES EDGAR SWAIN, Ph.D., Macgraw-Hill Book co.inc, pg-290]

I am an atheist. I have learned about Islam, gotten to know several muslims well and I've been to three muslim countries. There are some elements that I like and some that I dislike about Islam. In many ways it is a beautiful religion, but it has it's ugly sides too. There are good and bad people among muslims, just like in all other religious groups. I don't judge all muslims for the actions of a few. I know that a huge majority of muslims is peaceful, good people. It's a shame that the bad ones give the whole group a bad name and a part of the blame is with the media too, for always showing muslims in a bad way and never letting people see the good sides too. People are also silly for judging all the 1.5 billion muslims in the world by what they hear on the news about a few hundred muslim extremists. They are just ignorant and don't understand that good events rarely make the news. Don't let such people get to you, just be a good muslim yourself and show a good example of a real muslim. You can help show people the good sides of Islam.

Honestly, people in my faith have suffered more violence at the hands of 'christians' than we ever have from Muslims. So if I was going to judge an entire religion based on the actions of a few who were WARPING that religion, I'd actually consider christianity a terrorist religion. However, I have a brain and I know how to use it, so I know it's the person doing the bad things and that their God does not necessarily endorse their actions.
Now, if only everyone knew how to use their brain, the world would be a better place.
I shudder to think about the kind of 'christian love' your question is going to produce, by the way. If I were a christian, I'd apologize in advance for the behavior of my 'brothers' and 'sisters'. Same if I were an atheist or agnostic. In reality, people who spew hate are brother and sister to no one except other hateful, ignorant people no matter what religion they may claim.
ETA: I respect all those who practice their religion in a peaceful manner, but have problems with the dogma in monotheistic faiths. (Not the people, the dogma.) As a polytheistic Germanic Heathen (Asatruar), I leave you to your Gods and expect the same respect in return. That's why we don't 'spread the word'.

I wager it is considering of the principles created by way of a few Muslim international locations. I do not recollect precisely however one man was once killed in Iraq (I believe) for being emo. I believe Islam is likely one of the such a lot pleasant faith And to all you non Muslims. Most Prophet sat and ate with the non Muslims. People at THAT TIME who did not allow us to train are faith had been kufars no longer each and every unmarried non Muslims. And that is what your faith teaches you. To talk dangerous of anyone's faith. I admit i am not a holy individual and curse oftentimes however insulting anyone's faith indicates how low of a individual you're. PS: TERRORISTS ARE EVERYWHERE SO DON'T USE THAT PATHETIC REASON OF YOURS.

I don't think anything bad about Muslims that they were all terrorists or something like that. I know that most Muslims are peaceful. The only problem I have with Islam is that you believe that as an atheist I will burn in hell forever (I have the same problem with Christianity). This is just one thing that makes me sad. I have experienced it is very hard to explain to Muslims that I don't believe in God. This is the only thing.

What I don't get is everyone calling it the Religion of Peace, yet your book, which is sacred and the final word has these things to say:
Qur’an:9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
Qur’an:9:112 “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”
Qur’an:9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”
Ishaq:325 “Muslims, fight in Allah’s Cause. Stand firm and you will prosper. Help the Prophet, obey him, give him your allegiance, and your religion will be victorious.”
Qur’an:8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”
Qur’an:8:39 “So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”
Qur’an:9:38 “Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah’s Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place.”
Qur’an:9:123 “Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.”
That scares us, especially when we see Osama's and people in Muslim nations with machine guns dancing in the streets after 9-11.
It scares use when we look at England and MUSLIMS WANT AN ISLAMIC COURT.
You want an Islamic Court, go to an Islamic nations. YOu get the courts that exist in a country.
What, Christians can have a Christian court in Saudia Arabia! I think not!
YOu got to that country, you follow that countries rules or you leave. What are you there to colonize. Are you ZIONISTS buying up English or American or India or Thailand soil and then DEMANDING an autonomus nation.
If you think you have a right to do that, then ISRAEL has that right to and so does American and England, we can come there and buy land and MAKE IT ANOTHER US STATE.

My first memory of dealing with the Islamic world is in the 70's with the hostage crisis in Iran while we were unfortunately under the control of one of the worst presidents in American history. I say that because even at 11 years old I was unimpressed with Jimmy Carter even when I met him,if he cant impress an 11 year old who can he? Since then it's really only gotten worse in the Islamic world, with the exception of the fight against the soviets in Afghanistan, obviously they were right there. But it has been one terrorist act after another,Pan Am flight blows up over Lockerbie Scotland, everyone aboard dead. Marine barracks blown up killing many, suicide bombers killing innocent civilians day after day in Israel(Israel is wrong in part too,but note the distinction I make of civilians) Obviously the 9/11 attacks with thousands of Muslims worldwide dancing in the streets, sectarian violence in Iraq that so far has claimed 10's of thousands according to some estimates. And all of this goes on with barely a peep from most of what is supposed to be the moderate Islamic world,I think by now you see my point. But let me add that according to a great number of the hostages in Iran in the 70's one of the hostage takers is now the president of Iran, can we trust them knowing that? And of course then we could begin to look at the human rights record,it's not good, and shows no sign of this supposed moderate attitude. Most of the Middle East lives under brutal laws that in many cases are as harsh on victims as they are on perpetrators, especiall as it pertains to women. Want my example that I always think of then do a yahoo search for a story, use Aug 15 2004 16 year old girl hanged Iran. Any combination of that should bring up various accounts of the story of a 16 year old girl that was hanged in public on aug 15 2004. Her name was Atefah and she was hanged for "crimes against chastity" although many accounts suggest she was raped. We will never know, she's dead, she had no lawyer at her trial and it's over. And this is not such an uncommon occurence in Iran, other cases have come up pretty regularly including one case where a rape victim was given 90 lashes while her rapist was given less, I suppose under the idea that she enticed him. I remember Atefah because on the date of her death another thing happened,my beautiful niece was born,I cannot imagine her being hung at 16 for some sexual impropriety, whether real or imagined. Were Atefah my daughter I would make it my mission in life to end the lives of every person who had any part in her death. I think that clearly says what I feel about Islam,it may seem OK in the west because quite frankly most of this would not be tolerated elsewhere. But in it's purest form I truly believe it has no redeeming characteristics.

I am a Marine fighting in Iraq, and I told this to an Iraqi militiaman (pro- U.S.) who asked me if I hated Jews - "I love all men and women who love god, regardless of religion, as long as they're love is not so overzealous that they will misinterpret scripture in order to hurt or hate another man or woman." I am a devout Christian and I do believe in what I said, but I do dislike some teachings of Islam, as well as all religions, especially that women are inferior to men and that any type of killing, whether it be by the stone or sword (or gun nowaday), is okay. I don't know if my Army translator was able to relay all that to the militiaman, but his sheikh and imam both told me I was a good man and I asked them to change their view on Hebrews. Most Muslim hatred of Jews derives from a falsified document "The Protocols of Zion," and hatred taught to them from the Holy Quran (I have studied it, so I do believe it is a holy book, it includes my Old Tedtament and regards Jesus as a holy man, but does not acknowledge waht he really is), so I ask any Muslim, you and all that I am able to speak with here in Iraq, do not hate on account of what man writes, which is still what all holy books are. I believe that your prophet Mohammed may have been visited by the angel Gabriel, but it twisted him and made him a warmonger and power hungry, and that you're religion, as mine was, was spread by the sword, only difference, is your's was MAINLY spread by the sword. That is my opinion, derived from what I have studied in history and in religious text and doctrine.

I think whenever something negative happens the media is quick to report it using bold letters to get everyones attention, especially when its about Islam or muslims. But you dont see this with any other religion.
What we all need to understand is that their is good and bad in all religions! Unfortunately certain muslims think they are doing the right thing and spoil it for the rest of us...
I think education plays a key role in understanding different things. People are just to quick to judge.
But in the end everyone is entitled to their own opinion however arrogant it may be..

I see large (100,000 +)rallies for Hezbollah all the time. These guys (and other groups) openly say they have a problem with the west and want to kill us and have done it in the recent past.
They say the reason in that the Koran tells them too. I don't see any reason to doubt them, and I think ignoring the problem is dangerous. I rarely see other Muslims speaking against it, and when they do they are very small groups by comparison.
Frankly, over all you guys scare the hell out of me. I really think you are going to cause a world war in the next few years.
