NO. What a stupid question, lots of people who come here like Britain and would be happy to serve in the armed forces. Anyway why would you want to reduce immigration? Why would you want to bring back conscription for anybody?

I'm against it, I don't think it's a good idea. It's important I think for US citizens to be in our military, france used to have an army consisting of foreign conscripts, I don't think it really worked out so well for em...if we need a bigger military, then the military should put a full-page ad in the papers nationwide and say that.

There's too much political gamesmanship going on in the arena
of immigration, the laws need to be better enforced, 'sanctuary' cities and so forth need to be abolished, and people need to kind of wake up. If we're not going to have immigration laws enforced,
then it just kind of means that anybody that really feels like it can just kind of move in, and help themselves. How do you budget for that, how do you plan for that?

Example: One of the reasons that people are moving out of Mexico to the USA is because they lack a lot of civil planning, they don't have good wages because there's too much competition for the wages that are already out there. What did you want to have as the minimum wage in america? 2 bucks an hour?

Contemplate these 3 words in the context of the immigration debate: Exponential growth rate.

Just about the worst idea ever, it has been proven to cause far more problems that serve any real purpose, costly as well. Now if you were to talk about service to the wider community as an obligation that might just do some good and inject some practical knowledge of what the wider community is about (assuming we have such a thing as community).

There is an old saying "one volunteer is worth ten pressed men" so if we did need an army other than to participate in illegal wars on behalf of Bush/Blair & Co., then I would opt for proffessional armed forces that were in it willingly and part of a quality operation.

I don't think it would have any effect on the illegal alien as they could not register any way. There are many legal immigrants that serve proudly in our armed forces
already.I personally am in favor of bringing back the draft.
I think every citizen that's able should be required to spend at least 2 years in the military. Its a great builder of morale for the country to know that in case of attack we are all trained and ready to protect our country.

Yes i think national service should be brought back into force not just because of the immigrants but because of todays young people in society, they must learn disipline and respect before its too late the generation growing up at the moment very few have respect for their elders they are lazy (yes i know most younger folks wont agree but i am not saying ALL are like this) they need to learn nothing in this life is free you must work with all generations and have respect and if national service is the only way to do this yes let's get it going. BTW i sound like my mother and i'm only 39 lol

YOU BET!

Its doesn't matter where they come from a stint in the forces would set them up, reduce crime and perhaps produce some gentlemen!!

I have no problem with immigration..i just believe like other countries that you should be sort of 'vetted' have some thing to offer this country..not just come over to take take take...we have enough 'N.E.W.T.S' doing that already ( not in education, work or training schemes!)

As a third world war is possibly looming we may need the extra personnel just in case. We could start with TA type compulsory training for about a year and we would have a pool of military trained standby soldiers. This would only be for soldiers as RAF and RN would not have enough time for short training courses. (ex RN)

Rather doubtful.People do not usually move countries for trivial reasons. Therefore having to do National Service would be unlikely to put them off.
The military hierarchy, however, would probably have kittens as they prefer a professional army to conscripts.
It would create problems whilst solving none.
By the way our economy desperately needs most of those immigrants you are suggesting we try to keep out.

i thought conscription only got used in times when the armed forces needed to be expanded such as world war one or two or vietnam, national service would be better. 2 years in the army, navy or air force would certainly kick some of these little darlings into shape. and who knows, after a tour in afganistan those lucky enough to come home alive may realise that they are quite lucky to be here and not be suck little shits...but hey the pc brigade would never let their kids be "conscripted" into the armed forces, no matter how beneficial it may be to society.
