The country boy should continue doing exactly what he's doing. Taking things slow... more dinners, walks and talks. Maybe some other things too - movies, plays, tobogganing, skating, bowling? What will be, will be. This guy should just continue to be himself, enjoy the time he spends with the girl, continue to invite her to spend time with him, and wait to see where things will go from there.

Sounds like he should be doing just what he is doing. Country boy should listen to some country songs, this is a common theme and in some he even gets the girl ;-)

Lighten up a bit. Don't make it into such a saga. Enjoy your time together. It's simple as that.

Talk to her more often. She probably want the boy to be hard working, strong, confident, and brave for her.
