It's taken my husband longer than just 24 hours. He has a lot of mucous in the back of his throat too.

Most flu illnesses will not disappear in 24 hours. It can take up to a week and more for many. Each person differs since their overall health and immune system varies.

Have him take over the counter medication for temporary relief. He needs to eat a well balanced diet and drink PLENTY of water. The more he urinates the better. The body's natural mechanism will take the course provided to fight the illness. Helping it with proper nutrients will allow it to pass quicker.

depends if it flu or just a 24 hour bug normal flu takes a week to 2 weeks in bed depending of severity. If it last less than a week its a cold or a bug. Also flu you cannot get out of bed at all and it feels really bad.
