The discovery of carvings on a snake-shaped rock along with 70,000-year-old spearheads nearby has dramatically pushed back the earliest evidence for ritual behavior, or what could be called religion. The finding, which researchers have yet to formally publish, comes from a cave hidden in the Tsodilo Hills of Botswana, a mecca of sorts for the local people, who call it the Mountain of the Gods.

really, no matter if it is the first totally shown social gathering of worship, this is not the position the position it originated. that is only too stepped ahead in its theory (carved out collectible figurines, in a sacred position, with a cult of worship nonetheless extant between the Kung warriors right now) to be the 'unique faith' with the purpose to talk. There are good tricks at previously non secular practices: Neanderthal burials are strongly suggestive of a few type of spirituality, and Homo Erectus sharpened ochre to three extent, which exhibits he replaced into adorning some thing, and early artwork is virtually continuously non secular....

Undoubtedly, even if this is the first fully confirmed instance of worship, it is not the place where it originated. It is too advanced in its conception (carved out figurines, in a sacred place, with a cult of worship still extant among the Kung warriors today) to be the 'original religion' so to speak.
There are strong hints at earlier religious practices: Neanderthal burials are strongly suggestive of some kind of spirituality, and Homo Erectus sharpened ochre to a point, which suggests he was decorating something, and early art is almost always religious....

I bet you'll be getting a lot of answers saying that that information simply cannot be correct because somewhere in Genesis it tells you how old the Earth is. (It's something like 6,000 years.)
Furthermore, I bet half the people who respond to this question won't even read all the information on this story AT ALL.

God is not bound by the rules made for humanity. Wow, how limited are you in your perception of God. Expand your perception and step out of your isolation.
God is Great. His mercy endures forever. Really step out of your circle.

why do you limit it to 70000 years. whatever you mentioned is true. i trust the scientists. they are just finding things, one by one. that send the gods men into coma.
the last great flood happened around 850,000 years back. +/- 50,000 years to be adjusted. so that proves the holy book is wrong.
there are many things that are coming to light, but slowly. science has to be encouraged so that more truth is known. science has its limitations, so be patient. compared to science, holy book is pure fiction.
believe it or not, science is telling the truth.

Do you know if they were already cooking and eating pasta ?
This would be definitive proof that God the Flying Spaghetti Monster was around already, wigling His noodley appendages.
