usually tends to end in disaster, so why do we do it?

I went out with a lovely guy 13 years younger than me. He was 24 and I was 37. I adored him but felt so guilty that I was stopping him meeting a girl his age. I kept thinking when he is my age I will be 50! I look about 10 years younger than my age so it wasn't like people thought I was a lot older but I couldn't get the guilt out of my mind. In the end I finished it. Do you know what he did? He went out with a woman even old than me and he is now married to her. I saw them the other day and she doesn't look like his mum, she looks like his gran!!!! I think if you like someone and there is an age gap you should have proper discussions about it but if you are both comfortable with it then you should enjoy.

You cannot generalise like that there are many older women and younger men relationships that are working just fine....so you are wrong about the disaster thing any relationship whether young with old, or old with old, or young with young any one of those can end in disaster it all depends upon the people involved.

Working it out

While these social snubs can be painful, they often can be shrugged off. More difficult are conflicts at home. Younger women may expect their mate to be their best friend, while older men may not be up to the psychological task, says Charles D. Hill, PhD, professor of psychology at Whittier College in Southern California. In lieu of verbal intimacy, sex may be a couple's bond, but with age and illness, the man's sexual performance may suffer, he says. It is imperative that the couple find other means of sexual pleasure and other common interests as well, he says.

At its best, the end of life can be another path for intimacy. The couple accept that part of the deal of being of different generations is caring for each other, come what may. Some couples rise to the challenge and experience new intimacy. "Life brings its ups and downs," says Ian Alger at Cornell University. "Many people shoulder this burden and are partners for better or for worse."

These are the partners who have truly bridged the two or three decade gap in ages -- and met in the middle.

Because younger is more fun for women women like fit athletic men as opposed to some beer bellied lazy man. And personally I go for older women I think older women are hot.

Because older women think the younger men actually want a relationship with them, while younger men just want to get laid and don't have any intentions of having a relationship with them. In the mean time though, they both kind of get what they want. That's why we do it.

I think it would work much better if both men and women didn't expect so much to come out of a relationship like this.

I've never thought of it as a disaster. I always thought it was just easier to train them. A down fall about it though is older men tend to be more "experienced".

If age is a problem then older women/younger guys
older guys/younger women wouldn't get together in the first place. Relationships go wrong because of all sorts of reasons...it has nothing to do with age difference.

Men have been doing this for centuries and no one bats an eyelid, perhaps some of them are now appreciating the qualities a mature woman can offer them, so if you are in a relationship with a younger man .. or thinking of embarking on one, I wish you the very best of luck !

Its relationships that go wrong not age differences.
I have dated younger guys and older.
The younger guys are more honest and more fun to be with! Plus absolutely gorgeous! Good looks and toned bods!

Older guys can be extremely nasty, cruel and just plain mean! Which is a double insult as they are less attractive too!!
