Actually, I would question why not having a religion means you don't have morals. It could, I suppose, but most people who don't have a religion have formed their own moral code.

The couple should not marry or try to have children together. This issue is SO important, that it will create strife between them SOONER OR LATER. Looks like sooner!
The real issue isn't one of morals or religion (although those are important). The real issue is the disagreement between the couple. This is a "bedrock" issue: if they cannot agree here, they cannot function as a unit to create a household or raise kids. Kids are natural opportunists: they WILL sense the tension between Mom and Dad, and they WILL take advantage of it.
Until they can AGREE, then the couple should not come together. They should even consider splitting up! The philosophical divide is THAT important!

I think morals and religion aren't necessarily the same thing. One can have morals and not be "religious"... and vice verse. But I do think that those who have a religion in their lives probably do tend to be more concerned with moral issues. I think that it is important for one to be concerned about the impact of their personal decisions on others in order to be a good parent... yes... but I know some people who are simply 'spiritual' and have a code of ethics that they adhere to. So... religion, while I feel is beneficial, is not really necessary for morals... but I do think that morals are necessary to be a good parent.

No it does not! Morals are learned and good morals can be learned in many ways. Then again I feel you should look up the word religion. It does not mean you automatically have good morals! The worship of satan/lucifer is also considered a legal religion/church.

I do not feel like this but then I wouldn't since I do not believe in organised religions - my mother in law is staying- she is a catholic, she and husband are at church now. I have spent 1/2 hour doing yoga, painted my toenails, prepared their lunch, vacumed the house, answered questions on here and am about to rake the leaves in the garden.
So lets get this in perspective:
Church: they have been praising the lord with other people and listening to a sermon. Quite self-serving
No Church: I have painted my toenails, done yoga- self serving
I have also vacumed, prepared lunch, answered questions and raked leaves in this time which are both self & other serving
On balance I would say my actions are more moral. But then I would wouldn't I.

Not having a religion doesn't mean that you don't have morals. I have seen plenty of immoral and amoral christians. I think that not having a religion makes you a better parent because you are not as likely to force your beliefs on your children

Believing in God is a personal choice people make. You don't have to be a christian(or any other religion) to have morals.Morality is more or less knowing right from wrong, and acting on it.
Lumping someone into one category because of what they believe is wrong. To say a non-christian has no morals,is just as bad as non-believers who lump all Christians into one category.

No, but not having spirituality does. Religion is simply the practice of adhering to someone else's spirituality. People should really have their own spirituality if they are going to teach a child what they need to know to be a positive force in the world. After all, how can you teach what you don't have? But if you are unsure about your own spirituality, sometimes its wise to borrow someone else's concepts until you understand it better. So I guess religion would be a good place to start.

Uhh it's and interesting question.
Depends on the religion they would choose. I would definately choose Christianity...that would be perfect. It teaches you a lot about people, and children to (a lot of proverbs) and how to teach them important things.
Of course they might teach the kids well wiithout any religion...
Mostly depends on the person I guess
