Stranger rapes happen and Non-Stranger rapes can be just as violent if things do not go according to the rapist’s “script”. So what now? What do we do when the rapist has decided he is going to take what he wants?
First things first – don’t panic!
Chances are (statistically speaking) you know this person. Are they a selfish or “un”selfish rapist? Even though they have decided to rape you are they willing to cooperate with you? If they are a selfish rapist they will not and you are in a lot of danger. If they are “un”selfish you may be able to negotiate yourself to safety. Either way you are at a critical decision point in this ordeal so keep your head on straight and don’t start flailing just yet.
To fight or not to fight…
You must decide if it is safer to resist physically or mentally. Do you have a knife to your throat or are you able to move around freely so long as it is to please your attacker. If it is the latter you may have plenty of violent as well as non-violent opportunities to escape the attack. Either way the choice is yours or you are the only one who can make it. Just remember that you are not at fault for what is happening and no one can blame you regardless of what happens from here. Essentially you have to anywise the risks vs. the benefits of fighting.
Get your mind right…
Regardless of whether you decide to resist mentally or physically you must develop a survival mind set. I tell Police Officers and deploying Soldiers to find a mental trigger. Figure out (before you have to call upon it) what it is that makes you more angry and violent than anything else. Perhaps it’s the thought of someone harming your children, someone insulting your mother or maybe even someone scratching your car. Regardless of what it is you should be able to call upon it to incite an intense level of aggression and anger. “Channel this anger into violent action or mental resistance and your chances of survival and recovery will increase significantly”. (Melissa Soalt, Fierce and Female Practical Rape Defense Video series).
Commit to the cause…
Once you have decided to fight you must stay with this course of action and exploit every opportunity to be victorious. A failed attempt to fight back may excite your attacker or make him become more violent. Once you have decided to attack you may be required to perform incredibly violent acts to survive. Be prepared to fight until the attacker stops moving or is unable to attack you.
Don’t listen to your attacker…
As mentioned earlier a selfish attacker will become vulgar and may be very rude to the victim. This is both intimidating and demeaning. The attacker may whisper or even shout profanities in your ear such as, “whore”, “worthless”, “slut”, etc. This can be very demeaning, especially if you have never heard it before or you are questioning the choices that have led up to this moment. DO NOT LISTEN! You are not at fault for your attackers actions – don’t let him inside your head.
Use the element of surprise…
It is not only a typical response of a rape victim bring your hands toward the center of your body (basically covering your chest and neck) but a good tactical decision as well. We will compare men and women in a second, but suffice to say you are probably not as strong as your attacker. Wait for the right moment to attack and then explode with violence of action a US Army Ranger would be envious of!

Bite something hard - remove part of his ear / nose / lips with your teeth.
You could also look at an interesting new product called "Rapex" which is a sort of anti-rape condom worn by a woman - it has spikes inside. I kid you not..... http://www.rapestop.net/
Use you nails to rip into his neck / scrotum / penis. No gentle tweaks here, aim to remove skin - lots of it.
The ONLY problem is if you just hurt him enough to REALLY anger him. It's one of those "spur of the moment" choices. but you are not defenseless, unless you cannot move you head or hands.
A finger RAMMED into the eye will usually get you plenty of time to escape - but only use in extreme self-defense as if just a fight you may well up being sent down if your lawyer isn't as good as the other sides and you have blinded someone.

Harold Wilson - the former Prime Minister of Great Britain - once famously suggested that if you are in a situation where you are certain to be raped then the best thing to do was to lie back and enjoy it. He was widely criticized for that!

If it took place on or near a beach, a handful of sand up your vagina should act as a deterrent.
